Stampin’ Up BackStage!!!

Posted on

It’s been 2 weeks since we got home from New Orleans for Stampin’ Up BackStage and I’m still in awe of the amaziness! Stampin’ Up! ended the event with a traditional Second Line Parade through the streets just for us! It was so FABULOUS!!!

Stampin' Up BackStage, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This event was for leaders and while we didn’t do any stamping, we still had so much fun! Brad and I drove down on Thursday! Yes, it is 10 hours but really it wasn’t that bad. As parents of 2 children, it was actually really nice to just sit in a car and do nothing for that long without listening to children. LOL We listened to a book and taked a lot! Okay, if you know us, you know I talked the most! 🙂

Thursday night started with Sweets and Swaps where I swapped 50 cards that I created all the same! In return I got 50 different cards from demonstrators all over the world! YEP! Some from the Netherlands, Germany, Australia, Canada, and more! We had fabulous entertainment and lots and lots of sweets!

Day 2 of BackStage in New Orleans!

Friday morning, Brad and I enjoyed our first beignets at Cafe Beignet right across the street. Um……they were amazing but not what I expected and very heavy. They smell like funnel cakes but they are more dense. It’s almost like a dinner roll meets croissant meets powdered sugar. SO MUCH POWDERED SUGAR! I headed off to General Session and Classes for the day while Brad headed to the WWII Museum. We both were blown away! That evening Brad and I got to walk the streets hand in hand and check out New Orleans!

Day 3 of BackStage in New Orleans!

Saturday morning, Brad and I had breakfast at The Ruby Slipper. It was fabulous! Then I was off to more classes and General Session. Brad went to the Jazz Museum and ventured around! We got to enjoy dinner together and tell about our days. Then the final party……AMAZING! We walked in and got a boa, mask, and umbrella to dress the part! A little while later a band came walking into the room and walking around. We gathered behind them and followed…..down 2 escalators and out the front door of the hotel. We were greeted by a blocked off street, dancers, and a bigger band and off we went. It was so cool! There were times I felt so moved by the music and taking it all in, I could have cried. I have a video of some of it just to give you a taste of what it was like! Click here! We got back to the hotel and enjoyed so much New Orleans style food!

Thank you so much to Stampin’ Up for the amazing trip for Stampin’ Up BackStage and getting Brad and I out of the house! It was exactly what we needed! I can’t say New Orleans is a city I care to visit again but it was a fun experience! Can’t wait for the new adventure with Stampin’ Up! If you would like to join in the fun! August Paper Pumpkin!!!

Posted on

The August Paper Pumpkin Kit is probably my favorite kit in the past few years. I LOVED all 3 cards and thought that were super fun and easy to create!!! Like really loved each card!

August Paper Pumpkin Kit 2022, Stampin' Up, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Look at how amazing these cards are! You all know how much I love flowers already but this watercolor, wild flower look is just fabulous! Add in a few bumblebees and a fabulous greeting and I’m in love!

Sunflower Paper Pumpkin Card Kit, www.LlaurasStampPad.com

I don’t even know that I can pick my favorite so I’m just going to post each photo! One of my tips for this card is to make sure you test out your spacing with the greeting before adhering it down. On my first card, I just placed the greeting down and then realized my sunflower was off to the left rather far.

Bumblebees and Wildflowers Card Kit, www.LaurasStampPad.com

For this card, just note that you don’t have to add adhesive to the outside edge where there isn’t much room to add the adhesive. Simply add adhesive to that center rectangle and you will be golden! Thank goodness! Am I right?!? LOL

At Home Greeting Card Kit, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Can you see the little vellum honeycomb in these cards?! It is very subtle but adds some fun texture to the cards. I will say that it much easier to notice in person than in a photo! Don’t stress about the adhesive on these small pieces. Simply add some adhesive to the card, press the vellum in and add the layers over the top which will help secure it. Easy and fabulous for sure!!!

That makes me sad. If you are staying inside because it’s hot, here is the perfect thing for you – August Online Card Class!!!

Here is one of the cards that we will be creating at the August Online Card Class – Splendid Day! The colors Soft Seafoam, Pool Party, Calypso Coral, and a foil shine are the perfect combination! Honestly, I loved creating these cards and looked at all 5 of them and thought this is so not my style but I love them! July 2022 Paper Pumpkin!

Posted on

The July 2022 Paper Pumpkin didn’t grab my attention right away! Maybe it is because I live in the midwest but I don’t gravitate towards beachy stuff – boats, lighthouses, sea life, etc. I have seen amazing projects with these images but it’s just not me. But then I created this kit and really enjoyed it because it gave me a chance to play with these images/looks with a small investment. I also stamped outside the box and that was fun!

July 2022 Paper Pumpkin, www.LaurasStampPad.com

The color scheme for these cards is amazing! I LOVE Bermuda Bay and Pool Party so much! This card above was my favorite! The greeting is great to have on hand to reach out to someone anytime! I stamped the envelope a little too! Eeeee I love it!

Paper Pumpkin Under the Sea, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I myself wouldn’t use purples and reds together because it just doesn’t feel right but look at this card. It totally works! The collage of items together is super fun. Also for the twine around the bottle neck, I simply cut a piece and folded it in half. Then I wrapped it around and through the loop. Next I secured it on the back with adhesive. No knot or bow at all. The rustic look is just perfect!

Ship in a Bottle, Stampin' Up Paper Pumpkin, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This card was my least favorite but then I left the twine bow off and I liked it better. I don’t know but it just wasn’t fitting for me! There is nothing wrong with changing up the kit and doing your own thing!

I really enjoyed making these cards and can’t wait to send them out. In fact, I think I only have 2 or 3 left to send out. It’s always good to stamp different from your normal style.

The August Kit is all about gold and sunflowers and I can’t wait! You still have 1 more day to get signed up! Click here to get this kit and try it out!

Simple, Moderate, or Stepped Up!

Posted on

There are so many different ways to create a card at any level! Whether you are new to stamping or have stamped for many years….whether you have tons of supplies or just a handful of items, you can create a beautiful card made with love. Which one are you – Simple, Moderate, or Stepped Up?!?! I’m all 3 but probably moderate the majority of the time!

Simple, Moderate, or Stepped Up Note Card & Envelopes, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I used Note Cards and Envelopes for these cards which are fun and easy because they come pre-scored and ready to go! They are also a notecard size (5″ x 3-1/2″) so it isn’t as big and daunting if you are just starting out! Note Cards & Envelopes come in a pack of 20 and there is a white or vanilla option!

Simple Homemade Note Card, www.LaurasStampPad.com

For this simple card, I took a piece of Basic White (4-3/4″ x 3-1/4″) to do all of the stamping on. This made it less intimating for making mistakes. If I made a mistake on the card front, that’s the entire card. This way it’s a fun layer to add texture to the card while also making it “safer”. LOL I just randomly stamped the grass in Parakeet Party Ink and then added the flowers on top. Some of the flowers are stamped with the big flower in the upper left and some in the lower center. This gives the field of flowers a random look where each flower isn’t the same! The flowers were stamped in Sweet Sorbet Ink and Orchid Oasis! Then I added a greeting and it was all set!

Step It Up!

Homemade Thank You Note Card, www.LaurasStampPad.com

To step up the card a bit, I simply added a layer of Sweet Sorbet cardstock to make it POP more! The Sweet Sorbet cardstock measures 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″ and then the Basic White measures 3″ x 4-1/2″. To mix it up even more I created this card in landscape rather than portrait. There are so many fun ways to create this card! To step it up even more, you can punch out the greeting with your favorite label punch (or die cut) and add a little ribbon behind it or jewels! So many ways to decorate this card!

Which card style do you prefer – simple, moderate, or stepped up?!? It’s okay to be all 3 too!!! If you would like to recreate these cards, check out the supplies listed below! Don’t forget that it is Sale-A-Bration time right now so you can earn FREE goodies when you order $50!!! Woot Woot!
