Technique Tuesday – Boo Banner Bags!!

Posted on

It is Tuesday and so I’m sharing a fabulous technique with you!!! This week it is these adorable Boo Banner Bags!!!

Boo Banner Bag, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Isn’t he precious??? I had lots of fun making these little Boo Banner Bags!

Here is what you will need: Build-A-Banner Simply Created Banner Kit, Cardstock, Sticky Strip, Sponge Daubers, Ink, & Ribbon.

Boo Banner Bag, www.LaurasStampPad.com

You need to pick one of the three styles of banners you would like to use (banner, point, rounded), any of them would work fine! You will then use your template to color in. I used the Chevron Template and used Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango for a candy corn look! Then then took the black and colored in the word BOO. You will then need to take any type of ribbon to make the handle. I used the fabulous Chevron Ribbon because it’s super fun (and messes with your eyes if you look at it too long). Trace your banner onto cardstock so you can create your backing. This is where the points and banner tip work better than the rounded one for me because I can cut lines but when it gets to rounding, I am not as smooth! 😉 You will then line the sides and bottom of the cardstock with Sticky Strip, peel off the red backing, and stick to your banner! I added stitch lines with my Basic Black Marker and the eyes for the Boo were created with Whisper White, Crushed Curry, and Basic Black circles (the white line was created with my Chalk Marker)! I hope you try these adorable bags out! I loved making them! I’m thinking about doing Christmas ones…..HoHoHo or Santa or Snowflakes…..Mmmmm endless possibilities! Spectacular Samples!

Posted on

I thought I would share some of my projects that I have created with some of the stamp sets (and Framelits) that are on sale this week so you can see them in action!!!! One of my super favorites is the Dress Framelits!

Dress Framelits, www.LaurasStampPad.com

The card on the left side was cut out on Glimmer Paper and I added ribbon around the waist for a little pop of color to match my card base! Of course I added the purple ink to the edges of the Whisper White cardstock with my sponge daubers! The card on the right side was created using the Puzzle Resist Technique….which uses sponge daubers too (of course)!!! You can check out more about this Technique HERE!

Betsy's Blossom's, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Betsy’s Blossom Stamp Set has flowers so of course it is one of my favorites!!! Why is it that I always gravitate towards flower sets? Probably because they are so much fun and pretty and colorful!!!!! These were samples that I created a while back for a class that I did featuring this stamp set. That’s right, I loved this set so much I did an entire class with it!!!! The card on the left was stamped in Basic Gray and Daffodil Delight and then I stamped more Daffodil Delight flowers on scrap paper and punched them out with the Blossom Punch and layered them on top!!! The card on the right features all of the 2012-2014 In-Colors! I stamped the flower in each color and added a little Flower from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and a Rhinestone! What makes a flower even better? BLING!

Don’t forget you can get these items as well as many others for 25% off this week only!

Technique Tuesday – Pop-Up Ornaments!

Posted on

It is Tuesday and so I’m sharing a fabulous technique with you!!! This week it is Pop-Up Ornaments!!

Pop Up Ornament, www.LaurasStampPad.com

So you are probably thinking…..This doesn’t look like an ornament! This is the ornament all closed up and it would look amazing as a tag for a present. You could put the year and the person’s name on it! (I remember as a kid fighting over which ornament was mine or one of my siblings.) After seeing this adorable tag, you will slide the little bauble up the string and POP!!!!

Pop Up Ornament, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Then you will slide the bauble back in place to hold the ornament tight together and you can hang it on your tree!!! The cool part is it is super simple to create! I got this idea from a fellow stamper – Tami White! I love sharing ideas with others!!!

Here is what you will need: Five 3 x 3″ squares and Two 1.5 x 1.5″ squares of cardstock, a bauble or bead of some sort and some ribbon.

Each of your 3 x 3″ squares will need to be scored at 1.5″ on both sides and only one diagonal. It should then fold in half both ways (up and down & side to side) and then for diagonal. You will then stamp on both sides of your pieces of cardstock. For the one above, I stamped Night of Navy and Silver with the Festive Flurry Stamp Set randomly on one side. On the other side, I stamped one snowflake in Cherry Cobbler in the center of each square using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. By stamping each one in the center, when you assemble, you will get that complete Cherry Cobbler snowflake on the sides as shown above. You could always stamp randomly on both sides, or even use Designer Series Paper (or Glimmer Paper!!! I thought about that and want to try it out soon). After you are finished stamping, I added that brushed look to all of the edges (front and back) with my sponge daubers! Now it is time to fold and assemble. You will fold on all score lines to get a crease and then fold in half with the diagonal points going in. I know that probably doesn’t make much sense so I hope these pictures helps!

I hope you enjoy these amazingly adorable ornaments and share them with all of your friends and family during the Holidays! If you have any questions when you try this out for yourself, I would love for you to reach out me. Post in the comments below and I will respond!!!

Technique Tuesday – Starburst

Posted on

It is Tuesday and so I’m sharing a fabulous technique with you!!! This week it is this StarBurst Technique!!!!

Color Burst Technique, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Okay this card is the most AMAZING card I think I have ever created (in my almost 10 years of stamping). It is SO me – Pink and it says Fabulous!!! I got this technique from a fellow stamper – Ramona Simpson! It is super simple but when going all the way around can take 2 minutes or so. 🙂

Supplies Needed: 2 Ink Pads, Sponge Daubers, and 2 scraps of paper (one for a circle, and one as you edge for inking)

Starburst Technique, www.LaurasStampPad.com

You will see I punched a circle out and put a little dab of Snail on the back to hold it in place on my cardstock (not a lot because you will be pulling this back off). I put a dot in the center of my circle so I could line my other scrap piece of paper (you can use the cardboard piece that comes in the back of a package of Designer Series Paper since it’s thicker and stronger for reusing over and over) up with that dot each time I was going around to make my color burst. To get started you will put your scrap piece down and take your inside color (might not always be the darker one) and sponge dauber starting on the circle and rubbing down the scrap paper (only half way). Then you will take your second color and starting at the end of the first color, rub down to the end of the cardstock. Once you have done both colors, you will move your scrap forward (lining it up with the dot) and repeat. Do this all the way around or just on the top half of your cardstock for a sunrise/set or moon look. When you are finished going around you may have a few white areas towards the edge of your cardstock, just lightly dauber those with the coordinating color to fill in. I can’t wait to do it in a Purple next! I did another sample…..but then my husband informed me it is backwards. The light blue should be in the middle and the dark blue should be on the outside. Either way I think it looks cool! Right??

Please share in the comment what colors you want to try!

So Thankful For You!

Posted on

I love Thanksgiving because it is a day dedicated to being thankful for all the many things we have. I know we should be thankful EVERY day but this day we really celebrate those things! I am loving my Thankful Banner that I created and couldn’t wait to hang it up…..so I didn’t. What do you think?

Thankful Banner, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This banner is hanging in the foyer area between the living room and the kitchen! I look at it all time and smile!

It was created with the Simply Created Build-A-Banner Kit and I used my sponge daubers with the following ink pads: Crushed Curry, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy, Garden Green, and Chocolate Chip. I tied various scraps of ribbon in between the banner in the same colors. Here is another banner that I created for December! You can purchase the Build-a-Banner Kit and make a banner for Halloween (SPOOKY), Thanksgiving (THANKFUL), and Christmas (JOY) and you still have 1 banner left over or if you have a mistake. 😉 I’ll be honest I messed one up so bad it couldn’t be saved!

Magnificent Maple!!

Gold Glimmer Magnificent Maple Stamp, www.LaurasStampPad.comThis one little single stamp is so amazing – Magnificent Maple! Look how amazing this card is with the maple leaf randomly stamped on the background and then highlighted on the Soft Sky circle! I love how the blue plaid piece of Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper, Champagne Glimmer Paper, and Natural Trim Ribbon make this card pop and look so rustic. And I love the use of blue on this fall card rather than the usual browns, oranges, and yellows!!

Champagne Glimmer Magnificent Maple, www.LaurasStampPad.comHere is another similar card using the Champagne Glimmer Paper, Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper and Natural Trim. But this time I colored the Maple Leaf with my daubers. Check out the technique here! I hope you enjoyed these cards and it got you into the Fall mood! Post in the comments of any projects you are have created with this stamp set!

Try a New Designer Series Paper?

Posted on

Stampin’ Up makes some AMAZING Designer Series Paper! Even the patterns that don’t catch my attention right away, it is caught after seeing a fabulous card or project using it.

Naturals Composition Paper, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This is one of my favorites – Natural Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper. It is only 1 sided (thank goodness, then I don’t have to worry about which side to use)! It is all clear embossed too!!! How fabulous is that? Embossing can really make a project pop but let’s be honest that thought goes away sometimes when I think about having to dig out the powder and the heat tool. There are 6 different designs – woodgrain, musical notes, all over flowers, flowers in the corner of note paper lines, damask, and another flor-de-lies type pattern. You can add some color to this paper with your sponge daubers and it will pick up the color in the non-embossed areas like this sample below!

Naturals Composition Paper, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Super fun to add color to each of the flowers too! You know how I love flowers! I hope you give this paper a shot! It is amazing the more you play with it! TIP: The paper comes in 12″ x 12″ sheets, use pieces on your card that are 3″ x 4″ or 2″ x 4″. When using increments like that you will get more out of your paper with fewer scraps left over!

Build a Banner Simply Created Kit & More!

Posted on

From the moment I first saw the Holiday Mini Catalog I knew the first thing on my wish list was the Build A Banner Simply Created Kit.

Build A Banner, www.LaurasStampPad.com

1. You got the entire alphabet templates for less than $20.00.

2. You got 3 patterned templates that are super cute (chevron is HOT HOT HOT, I love polka dots, and stripes are always a hit).

3. You also got canvas banner and a twine (pre-punched and riveted) AGAIN all of this for less than $20.00!

I was sold and purchased it immediately. It finally arrived and I ripped it open (if you know me, you know I rip into packages, mail, presents, etc like a lion eating dinner) and looked at all of it. I was impressed and couldn’t wait to start creating. I will say that the kit comes with 2 spritzer bottles and while I like using those to spritz a project, I didn’t find them to be the best use for these. When I did it, I made a huge mess and over spritzed and the lines didn’t come out crisp because I had over-saturated it. So I added the spritzers to my collection and pulled out my sponge daubers (oh how I love these)! I loved how the lines were crisp and I could dauber more and more for a darker look without over saturating and making a super huge mess.

Build A Banner Kit, www.laurasstamppad.comAnd because these alphabet templates are so amazing, I used my daubers on cardstock and made this fabulous card! Love love love this kit and it is so worth the $20.00! Oh, one more thing, you can get the words SPOOKY, THANKFUL, and JOY out of the kit with still one banner left. That is decorations for THREE Holidays! I’m telling you, this kit is amazing!

Trick or Treat?!?!?

Posted on

While I’m not a huge fan of Halloween, I do enjoy the candy!!! We don’t get a lot of trick-or-treaters out where we live but the ones we do get are spoiled! I love making adorable packaging for my candy!!! It is super fun and so cute! I, also, send yummies to all of my nieces and nephews because who doesn’t love getting mail AND candy?

Halloween Muslin Bag, www.laurasstamppad.comThis little bag is one of our new Muslin Bags from the Holiday Mini Catalog! They are just the right size for a small gift, candy, or homemade treat! I decorated this bag with the Simply Created Create-A-Banner Kit using the polka dot template and my sponge daubers! You could always add some ribbon and a tag too! Don’t forget these would be fabulous for a countdown to Christmas as well. Put the little treat in the bag for each day! And the best part is that the bag is big enough to hold just about any small gift (rather than those little bitty boxes usually used for the countdown)!

Treat Bag, www.LaurasStampPad.comThis little bag is actually a thick paper bag (Tag A Bag Gift Bags) perfect for a cookie or other handmade treat, gift card, or Stampin’ Up buttons, brads, etc. I used the Tag A Bag Accessories Kit which includes the fabulous printed tags and Baker’s Twine! It also comes with self-adhesive strips which are perfect for closing up the back of the bag. Simple and cute! Hope these ideas help you with your Holiday Treats!
