Beautiful Butterflies!!!

Posted on

I was asked by the local Library to create a craft at a Volunteer Luncheon that they were having as a Thank You to these lovely ladies! The theme was butterflies and here is what I came up with!!!

Butterfly Curvy Keepsake Box, www.LaurasStampPad.com

These little Curvy Keepsake Boxes were a hit!!! They were able to pick from 4 different colors. We stamped butterflies all over with the Papillion Potpourri Stamp Set! The boxes were assembled using Fast Fuse adhesive and then we added on the Butterflies on the outside! The top butterfly was cut out in Vellum! They are so cute!

Butterfly Bookmarks, www.LaurasStampPad.com

The other project that everyone got to make was 1 of these bookmarks! I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5-1/2″ x 2″. The tops were punched out using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and Ornate Tap Topper Punch!

The Butterfly Bookmark used the Papillion Potpourri Stamp Set and coordinating Bitty Butterfly Punch and Elegant Butterfly Punch! We used Tangelo Twist and Hello Honey. The greeting is from the Lovely Amazing You Stamp Set and I just had to brush the edges with my Sponge Daubers! I couldn’t resist! I used some of the Tangelo Twist and Hello Honey Satin Stitched Ribbon for the top!

The Flower Bookmark uses the Crazy About You Stamp Set for the flowers and leaves! The colors used were Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral and Wild Wasabi! We punched out the flowers with the coordinating 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch! We used Calypso Coral Seam Binding for the top!

Both of these projects were lots of fun to create and simple enough for those who have never crafted before. It was a wonderful time celebrating all the amazing things these women do at the Library and they really enjoyed the afternoon! I had so much fun!

Technique Tuesday – Pop Up Box

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! You know what that means….I have a fabulous technique to share with you! You have seen the Cards in a Box before here and here! Well I have another version of a box card and it is super cute and I would say it is easier!!! I sure thought so!

Glimmer Hello You Framelits, www.LaurasStampPad.com

See how cute??? It does still fit in a regular Medium Envelope too!!! Now let’s get started!

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Cardstock, Paper Trimmer, and Fast Fuse

Starting with a piece of cardstock measuring 4-1/4” x 11”, you will score along the 11” side at 1/2”, 4-3/4”, 5-3/4, and 10” with your Paper Trimmer or Simply Score Tool. Turn the cardstock 90 degrees and score along the 4-1/4” side at 1”. Cut along all of the solid lines as shown in the template below. You will be removing the 1/2″ x 3-1/4″ piece on the far left. You will be removing a 1″ x 3-1/4″ piece in the middle and on the far right. Then you can either place the cardstock into your Paper Trimmer or free hand it, you will be cutting 4-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ from the right hand side front piece. This is what allows the box to be open in the front but still have that back piece!  Now it is time to assemble. Add Sticky Strip or Fast Fuse to that far left tab (1″ x 1/2″) and then lay the card flat and close it, allowing the adhesive to stick to the opposite end. By laying it flat to seal it, you make sure that is isn’t crooked or off. It will now be flat and close well for mailing!

Pop-Up Box Template, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Now with a piece of cardstock measuring 1” x 5-1/4”, you will score 1/2″ from each end along the 5-1/4” side. This will be uses on the inside of the box to hold your greeting (That middle piece of cardstock in the photo above!) Fold along score lines to create a “Z” shaped fold. Add Sticky Strip or Fast Fuse to both scored ends of 1” x 5-1/4” strip on opposite sides. Now you will place it on the inside of your box with the sticky facing out to adhere to the sides of the box.

Birthday Box Card, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Now you can decorate!!! I used the Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Mini Catalog for the back (3″ x 4″) and for the front lip (3/4″ x 4″). I layered the Designer Series Paper piece on the lip onto a piece of Tangelo Twist (7/8″ x 4-1/8″). For the greeting, I stamped Birthday from the Bloom with Hope Hostess stamp set on a scrap piece of Whisper White and made little banner tips. I added this with Stampin’ Dimensionals (of course)! I used the Cupcake Builder Punch for the background. For the Happy, I used the Hello You Thinlits and some Gold Glimmer Paper. I LOVE how that turned out – just beautiful! I used some Multipurpose Liquid Glue (green lid) to adhere it to some little Window Sheets and then adhered the window sheets to that center tab! Love it!!!! Super cute and fun to create and give!!!

Don’t forget to save the negative of your Happy to use on another project like this one! I love using up scraps and getting the most out of my paper!!!!

Something Borrowed One Sheet Wonder Card Set!!!

Something Borrowed Card Set, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I have done so many sets of cards using the One Sheet Wonder Technique! It is just so much fun and it is great to get lots of cards from just one sheet of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper!! You can check out more samples here and here! I created this set with all Thank You greetings because it will be a Bridal Shower gift for a friend of mine! I love it!!! Here is the template for cutting the piece of 12″ x 12″ Something Borrowed Designer Series paper!

12 x 12 One Sheet Wonder Template

Now for a close up on those cards so you can see all of the details!

Bridal Shower Thank You Notes, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I used the Million and One Stamp Set and Lovely Amazing You Stamp Set! The colors I used were Pool Party and Whisper White! Since I narrowed it down to those two colors it was really simple to just pull out my scrap bags in those colors and some full sheets and I was able to get started! For the embellishments, I used a few flowers punched out with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and Pearls! I also added some of the Pool Party Cotton Ribbon! I love this ribbon because it is soft and easy to use. It also isn’t super wide or thick to cause a lumpy spot on your card!

One Sheet Wonder Cards, www.LaurasStampPad.com

You will see on many of these cards, I used the Fork Bow Technique to create those little bitty bows which are just precious! You can see a video tutorial on how to make those here! Also, I used the Decorative Label Punch and Artisan Label Punch for the greetings on a few of them! I love how each card is different but yet uses the same colors and style! I love them!

If you would like to see these cards in action, I created a Video to show them off! You can check that out below! Don’t forget to subscribe to My Channel so you don’t miss out on any future videos!

Have you tried out this technique yet? What are you waiting for? Leave me a comment below what Designer Series Paper you plan on using for this technique!

Princess Peach!!!!

Posted on

It was my husband and I’s Wedding Anniversary at the end of April and if you have followed my blog for long you know I like to make really fun and personal cards for him! You can check out my Mario Card hereMinion Card here, and Kirby here! If you haven’t guessed it, my husband likes video games!!! So for our Anniversary I made him this card!!!!

Princess Peach in a castle, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I really love how it turned out and my husband thought it was really good. He mostly commented on the bricks which I thought was hilarious. He also said that she is cross-eyed and he kept trying to fix it 🙂 I started by making her head which uses Circle Punches, the Owl Builder Punch, the Bird Builder Punch (hair), Hearts A Flutter Framelits, and Oval Punch. I drew her eyelashes on with my Basic Black Marker! For the crown, I used Gold Glimmer Paper and punched 3 petals with the Flower Medallion Punch! Then using some Red Glimmer Paper and the Petite Petals Punch I added that red gem! Here she is close up!

Princess Peach Punch Art, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I realized that I couldn’t just put her face on a card so I needed some background and that is when I thought I would create her Castle and make it look like she is hanging out the window waving at Mario or screaming for him to rescue her! I needed a little bit of her body so I punched some more circles! For her collar, I punched the Scallop Oval Punch and cut a piece off! For the gem on her chest I cut out one of the gold circles from the Gold Designer Vellum and trimmed it up! Then I started on the bricks which were created with scraps of Smokey Slate and Basic Gray. I rounded the edges with my Project Life Corner Rounder. I brushed the edges using my Sponge Dauber in Basic Gray and pounced all over with some Encore Silver Ink and a Sponge Dauber! That gave the bricks a bit of a shiny brick look! The placement was a bit tricky but I made it work!!! The best part is it was made for my husband and with love!!! After all our cake topper on our wedding was Princess Peach and Mario!!

Mario & Peach

I do have to admit that Princess Peach was not my original idea for a card……I planned on doing Grumpy Cat.

Grumpy Cat Punch Art, www.LaurasStampPad.com

She just looks like she was in a fight and is made I put a bow on her head.

Do you love Punch Art? What is your favorite? Any suggestions on the next one I should do? Leave me a comment down below!

April Paper Pumpkin!!!

April Paper Pumpkin, www.LaurasStampPad.com

The April Paper Pumpkin is super cute and I love the color combination – Crushed Curry and Pacific Point (2 Ink Pads). While I use to have a room in blue and yellow when I was younger, I really haven’t explored that color combination in stamping! It was fun to try something new!! The stamps in this kit included greetings for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and they Hey Dude for Graduation. That is the theme of cards I made too!!! (Makes me really wonder what the May Kit will be!) If you would like to see my excitement when I first opened the kit, check out this video! I enjoyed an evening on the couch working on my Paper Pumpkin and watching Dancing With The Stars. These are the cards I created!

April Paper Pumpkin, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I think the little envelopes are super cute although they would need to go into an additional envelope for mailing. The kit included Baker’s Twine in both Crushed Curry and Pacific Point but I haven’t used any of that yet. It can be looped through the holes in the pockets! I will probably hand deliver many of these because they are mostly Father’s Day and Mother’s Day cards! I love the bow tie look and then the gift bow! Adorable! Since I used 2 bows for one of the pockets, I had an extra belly band so I cut that up for the ribbon tails! 🙂 I just may need the Bow Builder Punch now so I can make more of these!!!

April Paper Pumpkin, www.LaurasStampPad.com

The little flower is super cute and while I could have used it on all of the cards, I held back. 🙂 There is also an “X” or “t”, however you wish to use it, in the stamp set and I have used that with the Sophisticated Serifs Stamp Set to make Monogram cards that say M+R for couple! I love the many uses of this stamp set!

Be sure to sign up for Paper Pumpkin before May 10th (Sunday) so you can get the May Kit and enjoy all the fun with me! Click here to sign up! Also, if you still need a Mother’s Day Gift, a Paper Pumpkin Subscription would be perfect! Trust me she will love it and everyone needs a few cards on hand!

Splash of Pinks!!!

Work of Art, Shades of Pink, www.LaurasStampPad.com

You know I love my Work of Art Stamp Set and I love the color Pink!!!! Check out this quick and simple card that I created for my Swap Cards at the Spring Into Stampin’ Event I added this past weekend (click here for more on that)!!! I love it! I started with a Basic Black card base. Then using Melon Mambo ink, I stamped the swish image from the Work of Art Stamp Set four times without re-inking between stamps. Those beautiful shades of pink make the perfect background! I attached that piece to my card front and created the greeting. For the greeting, I stamp Just For You from the Work of Art Stamp Set on some scrap Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch. Then I punched out another one from Basic Black. I cut the black one in half (hamburger style) and adhered it to the greeting leaving a little popping out of the top and popping out the bottom! Love it! I added this to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals! I added a little Melon Mambo flower which I punched using the Itty Bitty Punch Pack. Then it came time for the flower center and I just couldn’t pick a favorite. I added a Rhinestone for some bling and loved it! I added a Daffodil Delight Candy Dot and loved the pop of color. Then I tried a Black Candy Dot and loved that too! TIP: You can color any Candy Dot with a Black Sharpie to get a black one! Which is your favorite?? Leave me a comment down below!

Technique Tuesday – All Abloom Card Set!!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! That means I have a fabulous technique to share with you today. While it might not require a lot of tools or create a specific effect on your project, it will create a WOW!!!!! I love One Sheet Wonder Card Sets because you can get LOTS of cards from just one sheet of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper. Well today I’m going to show you how you can get about 40 cards with one pack of the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack. How amazing is that? Now I know 40 cards sounds like a daunting task but not when you are making multiples of the same style and when you are only sticking with a few colors.

All Abloom Card Set, www.LaurasStampPad.com

You have seen me post about these cards over the past week. You can check out those individual posts here:

You’re In My Thoughts, Hello, Just Because, Thanks So Much, Happy Birthday, With Sympathy

All of these cards use less than one sheet from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack so that means I was able to create 4 each of these 6 cards (4 sheets of each pattern in the stack)! That makes 24 cards!!!!! Of course, all the left over scraps could be used for another card, right?

Quilt Look with Scraps, www.LaurasStampPad.com

How cute are these??? All of the strips are 1/2″ wide. I started with one strip towards the middle and stuck it down. Then I just worked my way out. There is no true technique to this, just play around and stick some strips of paper down! You could do this with any scrap pieces of Designer Series Paper you have laying around! 🙂 I know you have some! Some of the cards, I stuck to a few colors and others I used all of them! After you lay a few strips down, trim the edge and you can use that piece in another spot.

Quilt How To, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I was able to create 6 cards in this style so now we are up to 30 cards from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack. There is still three patterns (4 sheets each) left in the stack as well as scraps. That is where you get the last 10+ cards. You could use these to re-create some of the styles above or create something totally new. Again, after you are done using the big pieces, use the scraps for more quilt cards! Want to see this all these cards in action? Check out my Video Tutorial here! Don’t forget to Subscribe to my Channel so you don’t miss out on any future videos. HINT: More One Sheet Wonders are on the way!

One of the reasons I love this style of card making is that I knew the colors I would be working with because they are listed on the front of the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack so there was no guessing or wondering. I pulled out those ink pads and cardstock as well as a few of my favorite greeting stamp sets and went to work! Also, I love that I was able to create cards for all occasions – Man Cards, Girl Cards, Birthday, Sympathy, Wedding, and Just Because! Love it!!!

Shades of Blue!!!

Best Wishes All Abloom, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This card is so simple yet so stunning! I am starting to think that a simple card has more of a WOW factor than some of those cards with lots of embellishments and layers. The blues in this card make me swoon! The card base is Lost Lagoon and I layered the All Abloom Designer Series Paper (3-7/8″ x 5-3/8″) on a piece of Island Indigo (4″ x 5-1/4″)! I stamped my greeting from the Petite Pairs Stamp Set onto some scrap Whisper White and punched it out with the Modern Label Punch and attached it to the card flat. Gasp….I know I didn’t use a Stampin’ Dimensional but don’t worry the flower was attached with one of them! 🙂 I punched out the flowers with the Petite Petals Punch and Itty Bitty Punch Pack! Of course I finished it off with a Pearl! This type of card would be great for lots of different occasions. What occasion do you think it would be best for – Birthday, Wedding, Sympathy, Baby?? Leave me a comment down below!

I have to point out that this amazing All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack is retiring and it is 50% off. You can get it for less than $4.00 (US). That is AMAZING! If you would like to see more samples using this paper, check out this post, this post, and this post! Get it now before it is gone!

Technique Tuesday – Negative Thinlits!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! That means I have a fabulous technique to share with you! This technique is beautiful and uses up your scraps! Woot Woot!!! Also, don’t forget that Mother’s Day is only 2 weeks away!

Mothers Day, Hello You Thinlit,Negative, www.LaurasStampPad

I am loving this card even though I am usually a silver girl but gold and pink are amazing together!!! Mother’s Day is right around the corner and this card is perfect because you can make a Happy Birthday Card and then use the negative of the Happy for your Mother’s Day Card! So let’s get started!!!

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Hello You Thinlits, Big Shot, Gold Glimmer Paper, Crazy About You Stamp Set, Petite Petals Punch, Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Pearls

You will start off with a card base of Blushing Bride measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″!  Then taking a piece of Gold Glimmer Paper measuring 4-1/2″ x 2″, run that through the Big Shot with the Happy Thinlit from the Hello You Thinlits. NOTE: You can bundle and save 15% when you purchase the Hello You Thinlits and Crazy About You Stamp Set! Woot Woot. I have found that the best way to have these Thinlits pop out of the die super easy is to place an un-used dryer sheet onto your Standard Cutting Pad (clear pads), then place the Glimmer Paper, then the Thinlit, and then the top Standard Cutting Pad. By doing this, the dryer sheet pulls that Happy right out of there super easy! Thank you one of my stampers for that trick. I was always doing it with a used dryer sheet in between the Thinlit and Gold Glimmer Paper. That works too but it is so much better underneath! For this card, you will be using the negative of the Happy but be sure to save the Happy for another project. You can save all of those little centers of the letter to adhere in or you can toss them OR you can use some of them as candle flames!!!! See there is a way to use all of your scraps. You will layer the Gold Glimmer Paper onto a piece of Whisper White measuring 3-1/2″ x 5″. You can either do it straight or you can tilt it to one side. Below the Happy, I stamped Mother’s Day from the Crazy About You Stamp Set in Blushing Bride. Now you can adhere this to your card front. I tilted mine for a different look! I really like it!!!

Petite Petals Flower, www.LaurasStampPad.com

To finish it off, I punched a few flowers in Blushing Bride and Pink Pirouette with the Petite Petals Punch and the flower from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack. I brushed the edges with my Sponge Daubers. LOVE THEM! I added those to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and put a Pearl in the center!

Here is a sneak peak at the coordinating card which uses the Happy wording….check back next week for that tutorial!

Just Because!!!

Posted on

Just Because, All Abloom, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I don’t know how often you send a card to a friend or family member just because but I try to do it randomly. I believe there is a lot of power and love in a hand-stamped or even hand-written card. The card might show up on a day you are thinking nothing is going right, a day that is gloomy and rainy, or just a day that you need to know someone is thinking of you and cares! This card is perfect for such an occasion. It is simple and yet fabulous! I started with a Blushing Bride card base and rounded all of the corners with the Corner Punch! Also, I rounded the corners of the Pistachio Pudding cardstock which measures 4″ x 5-1/4″. Then with a piece of the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack measuring 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ (rounded as well) and placed on top of the Pistachio Pudding, I wrapped some Blushing Bride Baker’s Twine around it twice and tied a bow. I stamped the greeting in Mossy Meadow from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and added it to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals! That is it! You can see another sample using the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack here!

Now I challenge you to create a Just Because card and send it to a friend or family member!!! 🙂
