Technique Tuesday – Spotlight Technique

Posted on

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday!!!! Have you checked out the NEW Catalog! It came out yesterday and it is AMAZING! There are so many new stamps and products and fabulous ideas! After all the catalog is a great source for coming up with project ideas! Okay, now that you have seen that, lets show you an amazing technique – the Spotlight Technique!!!

lowtail Spotlight Technique, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This technique spotlights a certain section on your image with color. As you can see in the card above, I added pops of color to different areas of the butterfly. It isn’t that easy to see but each of those pops of color are actually punched out circles to there is a bit of texture and dimension to the card as well.

Swallowtail Spotlight Technique, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Now this one looks the same but it is just a bit different. This one I used my Markers and a template to add pops of color.

Supplies Needed: Line image stamp (something you can color in), Stazon Ink, Various Circle Punches, Markers, Cardstock

To create both of these cards at the same time, I took 3 pieces of Whisper White Cardstock measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″. You will then stamp the Swallowtail Butterfly on each of the pieces in Stazon Ink. It doesn’t matter if they are straight or diagonal and each one can be different. Then you will color in one of the butterflies completely with a marker. Using your various Circle Punches, punch portions of the butterfly out. You can punch near the edge or right in the center of the butterfly. You will then puzzle piece these punches circles onto one of your other stamped butterflies. I suggest punching and then finding the matching spot and adhering it down before moving to the next punch. This way it won’t be as hard to find out where the piece should go. Once you have punched and assembled your desired pieces, you can layer that on a card base and add a greeting!

For the second card, you will take your punched butterfly piece and lay it over the other Stazon stamped butterfly and color in the butterfly in the open areas. You don’t have to line it up perfectly, you can move the circles around as you wish! Again once you have the desired amount of color, you can layer that on a card base and add a greeting! Check out my Video Tutorial below to see it done in action! Be sure to “like” and “subscribe” to my videos so you don’t miss any of them!

I hope you enjoyed this technique and try it out! I would love to see some of your creations or variations of this technique so feel free to share them in the comments below or you can email me photos of your project. I would love to see them!

Flutter by Butterfly!

Posted on

I love butterflies so much! As a kid I remember watching them, running after them, trying to catch them, and caging caterpillars in hopes to watch it turn into a butterfly! And now as an adult, I still enjoy them! Butterflies are colorful and beautiful and I think they can brighten anyone’s day!

Butterfly Photo Frame

I made this fabulous Butterfly Frame with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits! I used lots of my paper scraps (who doesn’t have a million of those around) and used every Stampin’ Up! color! I love how it turned out and then I added a few pearls in there too! Gotta have some bling! This is hanging right inside the door to my stamp room! I love it!

Multi Colored Butterfly, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This fabulous card is super quick and simply. Just take a few markers in any colors and start inking up your butterfly, stamp it down, layer it onto your card and Voila! You are all done and have just created a beautiful, bright and simple card! This card doesn’t even need a greeting so it could be used for any occasion! This card uses the Swallowtail Stamp!

Butterfly Shaker Card, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This last card is actually a shaker card! The bling in that center butterfly moves around under a clear window sheet! Check out my Technique Tuesday next week to learn more about Shaker Cards! This card uses the Papillion Portpouri Stamp Set and Elegant Butterfly Punch!

There are lots of other butterfly items too – Beautiful Butterfly Bigz DieBitty Butterfly Punch and wheels and more!! And don’t forget about the Butterfly Bundle this month! You get 15% off when you purchase the bundle this month!!!

Hope you have a bright and cheerful day after seeing all these butterflies!

Favorite Stamp Set – Feels Good!

Posted on

Do you have one stamp set that you go to every time you sit down to craft? I DO! The Feels Good Stamp Set is my favorite stamp set right now! The greetings are so fun and unique! And since they are so large, I find there is no real need for lots of extra decoration because the greeting is enough! What do you think?

Color SplashThis card was created with a few of the NEW In-Colors – Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush, and Crisp Cantaloupe. All I did to get this look was dab my Aqua Painter in some ink and brush it over the cardstock! Voila! Then I stamped the Feels Good Stamp in Stazon Ink.

IMG_1845This card is just a ray of sunshine AND the perfect use for those scraps of Designer Series Paper that you have left over. Check out this post using Designer Series Paper but their is a 1 inch strip left over!

IMG_1140So this one combines my favorite Stamp Set Feels Good with another favorite set of mine – Swallowtail!!!! I stamped this amazing butterfly over the 2 pieces of Whisper White cardstock and then assembled them with the Primrose Petal Cardstock layered in between. Then I put a strip of Sticky Strip towards the bottom and created a rippled ribbon look with a piece of cardstock (it is the little extra piece left over after cutting a layer of 4″x 5-1/4″). Of course, I had to put a little bling on there too!!!

Are you in love with the Feels Good Stamp Set now?
