Technique Tuesday – Watercolor Wildflowers!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday! I am so stinking giddy about sharing this card with you today! I LOVE IT! It’s so soft and beautiful. I know I know, it’s not my usual bright colors but it is flowers! 😉 The technique I’m sharing with you is a little watercoloring with the Aqua Painter. I know many might not like it or have never tried it so I’m going to share some tips and tricks today!!!
Sending Smiles, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This card also screams Spring with the pastels and blooming flowers. Oh how I am counting down the days still Spring – 47 more days!!! Let’s get started on this beauty!!!!

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Aqua Painter, Basic Gray Archival Ink (or Stazon), your choice of colors

I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″ and stamped each of the flowers from the Flowering Fields Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set. I used every image in the set except the butterfly and I really should have added him in. That would have been amazing! I stamped all of the flowers with Basic Gray Archival Ink which you can use for watercoloring. I liked the softer look of the gray verses a black. It is okay if the flowers don’t all line up along the bottom because the greeting banner is going to cover that up! Now that your images are stamped, it is time to color. I have found that when using an Aqua Painter, you don’t need to squeeze it at all. The water will gently come out as you color. I also found that just barely touching it to the paper is best for those fine lines. I tend to press hard but then the brush tip bends and it becomes really wide and all over the place. Just a light touch to the paper works best. If you don’t like making a mess on the inside of your ink pads to create a color palette, just press a clear block into the stamp pad and use that as your color palette and then rinse off when you are done. You can always add re-inker to the clear block as well. I used Pear Pizzazz for my stems. The flowers are (left to right) Wisteria Wonder, Hello Honey, Pear Pizzazz, Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz, and Calypso Coral. Another tip that I have is allow it to dry a little and then go back and add accents or more color. Don’t think that you have to get the perfect look with one swipe. Have fun with it!!! For the greeting I stamped it in Basic Gray onto Pear Pizzazz from the Greatest Greetings Stamp Set. This card could really have any type of greeting on it! I added a little piece of Tea Lace Doily to the bottom of the banner and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals! By adding just a little piece of the doily, I can get 3, sometimes 4 of these out of one doily. I love getting the most out of my supplies!

If you would like to see this in action and how I used the Aqua Painter, check out the Video Tutorial below or click here! Don’t forget to give it a thumbs up if you liked and subscribe so you are notified when I post the next one!

Let me know in the comments below which you prefer – Aqua Painter, Blender Pens, Marker, or not a fan of coloring!!!

Memories In The Making!!!

Awesome Emboss Resist, www.LaurasStampPad.com

The Memories In The Making Project Life Card Collection is one of the items that you can earn for FREE through Sale-A-Bration!!! I thought the cards were super fabulous because many of them are window sheets with frames and borders and amazing designs. There are a few that are gold on one side and silver on the other. WOOT WOOT! I love how there is something for everyone there. The other pieces have embossed prints on them so you can have fun and add color for an emboss resist technique. Love it!!!

The card above uses one of the embossed patterns and I brushed over it with an Elegant Eggplant Sponge Dauber to give it some color. Since the card is 4″ x 6″, I had to cut it down a bit (4″ x 5-1/4″). I added some Whisper White Cotton Ribbon. For the greeting, I used the Big News Stamp Set. I layered it onto Elegant Eggplant and added it to my card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I thought it needed a little bling so I added some Dazzling Details to all of the little dots in the scroll. 🙂

Project Life Card Collection, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I didn’t want to waste that little strip that I cut off so I created this card. I took another Memories In The Making Card, stamped the greeting from the Tin Of Cards Stamp Set in Stazon Ink and added it to my card front once it dried. Be very careful when stamping on Window Sheet as it can be slick and want to slide all over. Straight up and down! This is one of those cards that the dotted wreath is gold on the back side. I’m a silver girl though! 🙂 Since you can see adhesive on Window Sheet, I just added it to the left hand side where the patterned paper is. It is held securely with Tear & Tape so I don’t have to worry about it coming off!

Awesome Ombre, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I wanted to do another one so I took another Card from the Collection that was embossed stripes. I used my Sponge Daubers to add color in this amazing ombre pattern. I used Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, and Night of Navy. I loved how it turned out. I wrapped some Silver Metallic Thread around a few (hundred) times on the left hand side and tied a knot. I added it to a Bermuda Bay card base and did the awesome greeting again from the Big News Stamp Set. Perfect Man Card!!!

Memories In The Making, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Then with the little strip that I had to cut off, I created this card. Again I took one of the Window Sheet Cards and stamped in Craft White Ink with the Tin of Cards Stamp Set. I adhered it on with Tear & Tape under the strip of ombre! I love how these turned out!

You can use Project Life Card Collections for greeting cards and memory keeping. They are so much fun and so versatile. You can check out a few of my Project Life Album Pages here!

Technique Tuesday – Curvy Corner Trio Punch!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! You know what that means…..I have a fabulous technique to share with you today! Today it’s all about the Curvy Corner Trio Punch. Some tips and ideas on how to use this punch and the fun you can have with it!

Curvy Corner Trio Punch, www.LaurasStampPad.com

How beautiful and simple is that card? I love how those decorative corners allow more of the Calypso Coral to show through. It really stands out so much more! If you would like to see a sample using the other corner, click here! Let’s get started!

I started with a Calypso Coral card base. I took a piece of Whisper White measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″ and punched all 4 corners with the Curvy Corner Trio Punch and then added it to the card front. Using a piece of the Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper (1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″) from the Sale-A-Bration Promotion, I placed that down the center. For the greeting, I used a piece of Whisper White (2-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ and stamped the greeting from the Rose Wonder Stamp Set in Basic Black. Oh how I love the greetings in this set! Then I took one of the flowers from the Flowering Fields Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set and stamped it in the background in Calypso Coral. I stamped a few times before going back to the ink to give a lighter look and those various shades. I layered this piece onto Basic Black measuring 2-3/4″ x 1-3/4″. I added the greeting to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals! I love it!

Look at that Shine!!!

Glitter Ribbon, www.LaurasStampPad.com

So I showed you a quick and simple version of this card here! Today I’m going to show you the stepped up version!!! Glitter always steps up a card!!! LOVE IT!

I started with a Pool Party card base. I took a piece of Whisper White measuring 3-3/4″ x 5″ and stamped the greeting from the Botanicals For You Sale-A-Bration Promotion in Basic Black. You can earn this stamp set for free with a $50 order. The flowers are from the same set and I stamped them in Bermuda Bay and Pool Party. The leaves were stamped in Pear Pizzazz. I would like to say I randomly stamped but I’m not the best at that. I have a tendency to think it needs one more over there and then maybe there and eventually I have stamped WAY TOO MANY. So my only advice is to stop early and if you think it might need one more, don’t do it! 🙂 I adhered this piece to the card front and added some of the New Pool Party Glitter Ribbon. This ribbon is super fun to add to a card and it ties really well, not chunky like some glitter ribbons. Also, I thought I would add a little foo foo to the inside to make it even cuter!

Inside The Card, www.LaurasStampPad.comCheck out those little flowers in the lower right and upper left corners! I just love flower stamps because you can do it in any color possible. What color would you use for this card? Let me know in the comments below!

Technique Tuesday – 3 Step Stamping!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday everyone!!! That means I have a fabulous technique to share with you. Three Step Stamping, Masking, and Flowers make this technique oh so amazing!!! Check this out!!!

Layered Flowers, www.LaurasStampPad.com

These colors scream SUNSHINE and BRIGHTER DAYS!!! I think it is the perfect card for a Sympathy, Just Because, or Get Well Soon because it is so bright and cheery! It would make a great card for any occasion though! This card uses the What I Love Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set! You can earn this set for FREE with a $50 order.

This card just needs stamps and ink and cardstock like any other card. I started with two pieces of Whisper White measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″ and 3″ x 4-1/4″. Add a little dab (little) of Snail Adhesive to the back of the smaller one and place it in the center of the larger one. We will be stamping over the 2 layered pieces at the same time. Now using the What I Love Stamp Set, I stamped the flowers randomly all over the layered paper. I used Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, and Daffodil Delight for the 3 flower images. You will notice that the flower stamps have a little arrow. That arrow is to help you line up your images. Take note of where that arrow is every time you stamp and lining up the next one will be easier. For example, if you stamp the first one (the online image in the darkest ink) with the arrow pointing up, be sure to stamp the next two images with the arrow pointing up. The second stamp is the full solid flower which is stamped in a lighter shade or a stamped off image of the first color. The third stamp is the smaller solid image and this one can be just about any color – lighter, darker, or totally different. Don’t worry if you images aren’t lined up completely because I found that with the rounded edges and flower look, it’s okay to be off. It creates sort of a watercolor look and that’s okay! Remember you stamped projects are make with love, not perfection and you are your biggest critic. 🙂 Once you are done stamping, you will separate the two white pieces and layer the smaller one onto a piece of Tangerine Tango measuring 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″. You can place the larger layer onto your card front of Daffodil Delight. I added some Daffodil Delight Cotton Ribbon to the smaller piece and adhered it down with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the greeting, I used the Rose Wonder Stamp Set from the Occasions Mini Catalog. This stamp set is AMAZING! It has flowers and some of the most beautiful greetings for all occasions. I love the font. I love the sayings. I love this stamp set. Get your’s now so you can play along with me in all the samples I’m creating with it. I stamped the greeting onto Whisper White and punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch. I layered it with a Daffodil Delight punch as well (tutorial on that here). I added the greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals as well! Love it!

If you would like to see the 3-Step Stamping in action, check out the Video Tutorial below or by clicking here! Be sure to give it a thumbs up if you liked it and let me know what color combination you would use for your card!

Incredible Ice Cream Cone!!!

Posted on

Ice Cream Cone, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This is sweet enough to eat! YUM!!!! This card is perfect for telling someone you are thinking of them or to brighten their day! It would also work for a Birthday too! I used the Honeycomb Happiness from the Sale-A-Bration Promotion! You can earn this stamp set for FREE with a $50 order!

I started with a Mint Macaron card base and added a strip of Basic Gray cardstock across the middle. Then I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 2″ x  4″ and punched the corners with the Curvy Corner Trio Punch! I love that little detail on the corner and I think I will be using this punch a lot now! I stamped the ice cream cone and greeting with the Basic Gray Archival Ink so I could color in the cone! I used the Aqua Painter and some ink to color in the cone and ice cream. I did the cone in Tip Top Taupe and the ice cream in Mint Macaron. It was almost too cute to cover with the little Honeycomb Embellishements! When you add the Honeycomb, you can attach it completely like this sample and hand deliver the card or only attach the one side and add a little message in the card about pulling off the other side of adhesive and stick it down after mailing it. I attached the whole tag to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals! Just adorable! I can’t wait to play with the little chick from that same stamp set!

What I Love!!!

3 Step Flower Stamp, www.LaurasStampPad.com

You all know how I love flowers and look at these beauties!!! I’m truly in love! This is a Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set that you can earn for FREE!!! It is also a 3 Step Stamping Set so you can really get those layers and colors to look amazing! For this card, I used the What I Love Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set.

I started wit ha Elegant Eggplant card base. On a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3-3/4″ x 5″, I stamped the flowers all over. For the 3 steps of the flower, I used Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant. You will notice that some of the flowers are darker and some are lighter. For a few of them, I stamped the Perfect Plum off before stamping it on the cardstock. This created a lighter flower. For the leaves, I used Pear Pizzazz and stamped off Pear Pizzazz. I added a strip of Washi Tape from the It’s My Party Washi Tape Pack. I ripped the one end and folded the other end behind the cardstock. Then I adhered this piece to my card base. For the greeting, I used the What I Love Stamp Set and some Elegant Eggplant Ink. I cut banner tips on the right end. Since this is really small, I didn’t use the Banner Triple Punch. Instead, I cut down the middle of the end and then cut diagonal from the corner to that center cut. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the greeting to the card! I love it and want to make this card in every color!

Which color would you use to create this card? Let me know in the comments below!

Happy Monday!!!!

Posted on

Happy Monday everyone!!! Today seems like a BIG DAY because it’s the start of the first full week of the year. Most are back to work today. The Holiday Mini Catalog ends today! The Year End Sale ends today!

Year End Sale

Today is also the day that my car gets towed and worked on. 🙁 Saturday evening, we were about a mile from our house (in town) and 3 deer crossed right in front of us and the third one ran into us. The entire front corner of my car is busted/missing/destroyed. My husband and I are okay and that is the most important part but I sure fell apart when I saw my car. This was my first accident. I just keep telling myself that we are okay and my car will be fixed; that’s why insurance is for. So let’s forget about that and think about the fact that tomorrow is the beginning of the Occasions Mini Catalog and Sale-A-Bration Promotion!!! WOOT WOOT!

Thank You Party Paper, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Here is a quick and simple card using some of the new product from the Occasions Mini Catalog and Sale-A-Bration Brochure. I started with a Crushed Curry card base and used some of the It’s My Party Designer Series Paper. I used the DSP into a piece measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″ and then cut it at 3″ and flipped one piece over. I love that both sides are super cute and coordinate together! I tied a piece of Melon Mambo Cotton Ribbon around the card at the spot that the paper meets to cover it up! For the greeting, I used the Thank You from the Perfect Pairings Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set. I then punched it out with the 1″ Circle Punch and then layered it onto a Mint Macaron piece punched out with the 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch! I added the greeting to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals! This card would be perfect for any occasions, just change up the greeting!!!

I will be posting a lot more samples using the new product after tomorrow! I can’t wait to share all these ideas and goodies with you! Let me know if there is something specific you would like to see in the comments below! I will do my best to make that happen!
