Pop of Pink Suite!!!

Posted on

Hello, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I am in love with the Pop of Pink Suite!!! The Pop of Paradise Stamp Set, the Pop of Pink Designer Paper, the Melon Mambo Thick Baker’s Twine, and a touch of gold just make it amazing!!! I love it all!!! You can see more samples using these products herehere and here!

For this card, I started with a Basic Black card base measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″. I picked this size because I wanted to wrap the Melon Mambo Thick Baker’s Twine around the card and this size requires less twine! 🙂 Then I cut 2 Whisper White pieces measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″, one for the front and one for the inside since black is hard to write on. I stamped the leaves from the Pop of Paradise Stamp Set all over the front and in the corners of the inside piece. I used Melon Mambo and Basic Black for the leaves. I adhered these 2 pieces onto my card base. Then I took some strips of the Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper and added banner tips with the Banner Triple Punch and layered them onto the front of the card. You could really use any of the patterns in the pack which makes this card fun and versatile when making multiples! I tied some of the Melon Mambo Thick Baker’s Twine around the card and tied it into a bow. To fray the ends a bit, I just ran my finger nail down the ribbon ends and it untwisted and frayed out like that! For the greeting, I used the Hello from the Pop of Paradise Stamp Set. I stamped it in VersaMark Ink onto scrap white cardstock. I added Gold Embossing Powder and heated it with the Heat Tool to melt. Once it cooled, I punched it out with the 1-3/8″ Circle punch! I added the greeting to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals – partially because I wanted to make the greeting POP and because I placed it over the twine and didn’t want it to look bumpy. With the Stampin’ Dimensionals, it is nice and smooth onto of the twine! I love it!

What is your favorite suite in the new catalog – Pop of Pink? Festive Birthday? A Little Foxy? Affectionately Yours? Floral Boutique?? Or one of the many others? Let me know in the comments below!

Beautiful Basket of Flowers!!!

Posted on

Make Me Smile, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Happy Friday!!! Here in Illinois it has been a hot week and I have to say in order to keep my basket of flowers looking beautiful I have to water them every evening. So far, so good but I have more “inky fingers” than a green thumb so we shall see how long I can get them to last! 🙂

For this beauty, I started with a Peekaboo Peach card base and I splattered some Peekaboo Peach Ink onto it with an Aqua Painter just for a little texture. I stamped the greeting on the bottom in Dapper Denim from the Sitting Here Stamp Set! The Baker’s Twine I used is actually retired but I have made some since this sample using the new Gold Natural Trim! Perfect!!! For the Flower Basket, I stamped it from the Sitting Here Stamp Set in Basic Gray Archival Ink. I also stamped the line image below the basket in the same. That image is perfect for getting that shadow line so the basket doesn’t look like it is floating! I used the Basic Gray because I like the softer look for the image (rather than black) and since I watercolored the images I needed something that wouldn’t bleed! I colored in the image with an Aqua Painter and used Dapper Denim, Peekaboo Peach, Emerald Envy, and Chocolate Chip. I love it. I layered this piece (2″ square) onto a 2-1/4″ Dapper Denim square. I attached it to my card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals!

If you would like to see more samples using the Sitting Here Stamp Set, check them out here and here and stay tuned. I have been having so much fun with this set!!! 🙂

Yesterday I posted a video showing you how to fix an ink pad that has been stamped in with the wrong color. It happens to everyone, you get on a roll and start stamping and hit the wrong ink pad or think it is one color when it is another. Have no fear, it is really easy to fix. You can check that out here!!!

Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday!!! 🙂

Washi Tape Background!!!

Posted on

Thinking of You, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I am loving the Pop of Pink Suite and this card is just amazing!!! It is fairly simple to create as well since the background is just strips of Washi Tape. It rips with your fingers so no tools necessary. The hardest part was the gold embossed greeting!

I started with a Melon Mambo card base! Then I took a piece of Whisper White (4″ x 5-1/4″) and the Pop of Pink Designer Washi Tape to create the background. You will want to start in the middle or close to it, not the farthest edge. When you start on the edge it is hard to see a pattern and follow it. For the card above, I started with the black with gold confetti strip (3rd from the bottom). Just place it down at any angle and that is your template. Then you will take another color/pattern and place it above or below at the same angle and spaced as far apart as you wish. Keep working your way out till the entire piece is covered. There are 5 different rolls of washi tape in the pack so you get lots of patterns. You can work with just 1 or 2 or use all of them like mine. For the greeting, I used the Pop of Paradise Stamp Set. I inked it in VersaMark and stamped it onto a scrap piece of Whisper White. I poured some Gold Embossing Powder of the top and set it with the Heat Tool. This heart coordinates with the Sweet & Sassy Framelits but you can also fussy cut it by hand! For the loops, I used Metallic Gold Thread and Melon Mambo Thick Baker’s Twine. I wrapped the thread around 4 fingers (2 loops for pink, lots of loops for gold). Then you will slide the loops off your fingers and then twist into a figure 8 and place on the back of the heart greeting. Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, you will place them on top of the ribbon (especially the ends) to hold it down and also adhere this piece to your card. Love it!!!

If you would like to see this all in action, check out my Video Tutorial below or click here. Don’t forget to give it a thumbs up if you liked it and be sure to subscribe if you’re new! I post every Tuesday and Thursday!

How do you like to use your Washi Tape? Let me know in the comments below. I love the background style the best!

Rows of Dots, www.LaurasStampPad.com

The Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stack is full of bright colors! I created this adorable card, which is my favorite of all of them. When making multiples though, there are only  4 sheets of every pattern in the stack. Have no fear though, you can use any of the other designs as well! Check out all of these!

Playful Palette, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I started with a Sweet Sugarplum card base. Then I took a piece of the Playful Palette Designer Series Paper measuring 4″ x 3″. I rounded the 2 right side corners with the Corner Punch. I wrapped some of the Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon around and tied a knot. I am loving this new ribbon. It is fun, elegant, and super easy to use! Then I placed this piece on the card in the upper portion but you could always center it. For the greeting, I used the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set and coordinating Duet Banner Punch (Bundle & Save 10%). I stamped the banner edge in Peekaboo Peach and the Celebrate in Sweet Sugarplum. I am loving the new In-Colors! When I placed the greeting on the card, I thought it got lost a little bit with the background paper so I added some punched circles. I used Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugar Plum circles and overlapped them. I placed the greeting on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Quick and simple cards that could be used for any occasion! I love it! You could use this style with any designer paper and greeting stamp set!

Now that the New Catalog has been out for a bit, what is your favorite Designer Series Paper?? Let me know in the comments below. Pop of Pink is my favorite and there are a lot in 2nd place! 🙂

Watercolor Background!!!

Sugarplum Wash, www.LaurasStampPad.com

You can create beautiful watercolor background with a little ink and an Aqua Painter! It is really quick and simple and you can do it in any color you desire. You can even use a few colors for an ombre look or rainbow look!

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″. I went over the top of the cardstock with my Aqua Painter just to lightly wet it. There was no ink on the brush just quickly brush over the entire piece. Then I picked up some ink and brushed quickly over the front. I used Sweet Sugarplum for the one above and Flirty Flamingo for the one below!

Flamingo Wash, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Once I had enough color that I wanted, I cleaned off the brush and picked up some Tip Top Taupe Ink. I squeezed the barrel a bit to release more water and then I tapped the end on my finger so that it would splatter on my card. That is how I got those little brown dots all over. It adds a little bit of interest and texture to the card. You will want to set the card aside for a minute to dry, more or less time depending on how wet it is. If you don’t have time for that, you can always use your Heat Tool to dry it faster. Once it was dry, I stamped the greeting from the Layering Love Stamp Set in Tip Top Taupe. I added this piece to a card base of Tip Top Taupe with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Since the watercolor makes the paper curl and bend a bit, I found that the Stampin’ Dimensionals allow for that rather than trying to stick it down flat. I tied some ribbon around the card on the left side using the coordinating color. I am loving the NEW Ruched Ribbon! Quick, Simple, and fabulous!!!

Of course, if you aren’t a fan of watercolor, you could always get the Watercolor Wash Stamp Set. Today I did a Video Tutorial on how to stamp with large background stamps. They are rather large and can be a little more difficult to stamp with. I show a few tips and tricks on getting the perfect look! Check that out here or below! Don’t forget to give it a thumbs up if you enjoyed it and be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss out on any others!

A Very Special Day!!!

A Very Special Day, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I love this card because of the PINK, the gold foil, polka dots, and the perfect greeting for any occasion. You could give this card to someone for their birthday, graduation, wedding, or just a day you get spend time with them or thought of them. Every day is a special day!!! 🙂

I started with a Melon Mambo card base. Then I took a piece of Whisper White measuring 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ and Basic Black measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″. I stamped the greeting from the Pop of Paradise Stamp Set in Melon Mambo on the lower right corner. Then I picked 3 different patterns from the Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper Pack. I cut the pink stripes into a 2″ wide strip, hearts into a 1-1/2″ wide strip, and the gold dots into a 1″ strip. I picked these 3 sizes because they are the sizes used for the Banner Triple Punch. When I create my banners, I leave them in long strips and place them on my card after making the banner tips to see how long I want them. You can either press your nail in to know where to cut or you can adhere them all down and then trim along the top of the cardstock. I do it both ways. I just find that cutting first and then making the banner tips, I end up with super short strips. This way works best for me. You can try out the different ways and go with the best for you! After I added my banners, I adhered the white layer onto the black and tied some Whisper White Thick Baker’s Twine around them. A little tip about bows that I thought I would share……do it upside down. At class, I had a stamper notice that I did mine upside down and I never realized I should share that with you all. Think about tying your shoes, you are on the back side of your bow and it faces out. This goes the same with your project. If you project is right side and you tie a bow, it will probably be upside down. I hope that didn’t super confuse you! 🙂 To fray the ends of the twine, I just ran my nail down the ends and it untwisted and came out like this. Super fun and more frilly! I added this piece to my card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I did this because you all know I love dimensionals but also so that my card lays flat. If I used Snail Adhesive, my card would bump over that thick baker’s twine and not have a solid seal.

I am loving the Pop of Pink Suite! It is so bright and cheery and beautiful. I even created 5 cards using every single stamp in the Pop of Paradise Stamp Set. Now that is what I can versatile. Love it!

Antique Awesomeness!!!

Rustic Elegance, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Collage stamping, antique, rustic, and lots of fun would define these cards! This is not my typical style but I did have lots of fun creating them! I had all intentions to do a rustic with gold look but after creating it, I thought I would do another option with the Paper Doily. I like them both a lot but I do think I like the Paper Doily better! Let me know in the comments below which one is your favorite!!!

Golden Doily, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I started with a Rose Red card base and then layered on a piece of Tip Top Taupe measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″ with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I took a piece of Very Vanilla (3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″) and stamped the dots image from the Timeless Texture Stamp Set in Tip Top Taupe. Yes, I stamped that image about 15 times to cover the background and I did get excited after the last stamped image after I realized I did it without messing up!! 🙂 I stamped the floral image in Rose Red and the little dots in Blushing Bride. If you look real close you can see those light pink dots. I added the Gold Doily to the right side and trimmed off a little bit of it. I took a strip of Very Vanilla and created the banner tips with the Banner Triple Punch. I stamped the greeting in Rose Red from the Rose Wonder Stamp Set. I brushed the edges with a Rose Red Sponge Dauber to make the greeting pop a little more. I added the greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then added this to my card base!

Rustic Doily Thank You, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I started with the same card base for this one. I stamped the floral image from Timeless Textures Stamp Set all over in different directions with Rose Red ink. I stamped the cheese cloth image in Tip Top Taupe. For the little dots, I stamped those in Tip Top Taupe but I stamped about 3 times before going back to the ink. This gave a variation of color. I added a half of a Tea Lace Doily (old style) but you can use the New Delicate White Doilies. I created the same type of banner greeting as I did above but I added some of the Tip Top Taupe Lace Trim (retired) to the bottom of the banner greeting. I love that little extra texture and decoration on the greeting! To finish off the card, I added some Pearls in groups of 3 using different sizes. When I finished this card, I squealed with delight. It’s just so fabulous!!

Let me know in the comments below which one you prefer!

Celebrate the USA!!!

Celebrate USA, www.LaurasStampPad.com

With 4th of July right around the corner, I started playing with some fun Red, White, and Blue ideas! I did use some of the retired Real Red Cotton Ribbon on this one but you could always use your favorite red ribbon! Love it!!!

I started with a Whisper White card base and stamped the stars from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar Stamp Set all over the front in Night of Navy! There is no right or wrong way to do this, just stamp all over and be sure to fall off the edges. I added the Real Red Cotton Ribbon along the inside fold of the card! For the focal point, I punched out a Silver Foil circle with the 2″ Circle Punch. The greeting was created by stamping the banner and Celebrate from the Thoughtful Banner Stamp Set in Real Red. Then I punched it out with the coordinating Duet Banner Punch (Bundle & Save 10%). This is becoming my New Favorite greeting option really fast! It’s so fun and fabulous! I added the greeting to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals! This is a quick and simple card which is perfect for a 4th of July Invite, July Birthdays, or just about anything!!!

Flirty Flamingo!!!

Posted on

Flirty Flamingo, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I am loving the New In-Color – Flirty Flamingo and how amazing is it with a Flamingo?!?!?!?! LOVE IT!!!

For this card, I started with a Flirty Flamingo card base measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″. I decided on this size because then I wrap my ribbon around it and won’t use as much. I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped the Flamingo from the Pop of Paradise Stamp Set. I stamped him in Flirty Flamingo Ink twice without going back to the ink pad before the second one. That is how I got that lighter shade. Then I added a strip of the Silver Foil Paper which was a leftover scrap from another project. I added this piece to my card base and tied some of the Flirty Flamingo Ruched Ribbon around the card over that Silver Foil Paper. For the greeting, I stamped it onto Whisper White with Flirty Flamingo Ink and then punched it out with the 1-3/8″ Circle Punch! I added the greeting to the card over top of the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like to use Stampin’ Dimensionals when adhering something over ribbon or embossed images because it makes it look smooth and it falls into the grooves better for a perfect fit! I love it!

Technique Tuesday – Rounding Your Pillows!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday everyone!!! You know what that means….I have an amazing technique to share with you! Today we are playing with watercolor and I’m going to show your how to create a rounded out pillow! It’s super fun and easy and looks amazing on your comfy porch swing!

Sitting Here Thinking of You, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Isn’t this card so calming and peaceful? I love it! Those bright colors in the pillows and cushion look comfy and I can feel the cool summer breeze just looking at it. Can’t you????

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Sitting Here Stamp Set, Basic Gray Archival Ink, Inks of Choice, and Aqua Painter

Let’s start with the focal point first. I got a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock (3-3/4″ x 5″) and stamped the swing and birdie from the Sitting Here Stamp Set with Basic Gray Archival Ink. You will want to use an Archival Ink so that the color doesn’t run when you start watercoloring! I went with gray because it is a little softer than black. Using an Aqua Painter, I colored the swing with Chocolate Chip, birdie in Crushed Curry, and the bench cushion in Bermuda Bay. Remember you never need to squeeze additional water in your Aqua Painter unless you are cleaning out the color to move to another one. You also want to focus on using just the tip of the pen….that very small point. If you press harder the brush will fan out and go all over and it will release more water then. When you are ready to change colors, just brush onto a scrap piece of paper or paper towel till the brush is clean and then move to the next color. I stamped the other 2 pillows in Basic Gray onto scrap cardstock and colored them as well. I used Tangerine Tango and Crushed Curry. Then I cut out the pillows. I added the orange pillow to the card with regular Snail Adhesive. For the round pillow, I took the other end (not the brush tip) of my Aqua Painter and ran it around the edge of my round pillow. The rounded end of the Aqua Painter presses on the cardstock and makes it curl in like a bottle cap. This is how you get that fabulous rounded pillow. Then I adhered the pillow to my card with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I love how it looks so real and amazing. Those rounded edges cover up the dimensional and make it look so real. Thank you to Glenda Travelstead for that amazing technique! I love it! I stamped the greeting from the Sitting Here Stamp Set on the bottom in Bermuda Bay. Now it is time to assemble. I tied some Bermuda Bay Stitched Ribbon around the vanilla piece and then layered this onto a piece of Tangerine Tango (4″ x 5-1/4″). I added this all to a Crumb Cake card base!
