Technique Tuesday – Diagonal Designer Series Paper Card

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! You know what that means – I’m sharing a fabulous technique with you. I’m not going to lie, I had a hard time coming up with the name for this card so Diagonal Designer Series Paper Card is what it is!!!

Diagonal Designer Series Paper, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Supplies Needed: 12″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Designer Series Paper, Paper Cutter, Score Blade or Bone Folder

Using a 12” x 5-1/2” piece of Designer Series Paper, score at 2”, 4”, 8”, and 10”. Fold on those score lines making mountains on either side of the center. Along the 5-1/2” side, put a little mark at 2-3/4” with a pencil. Then cut from the 4” score diagonal to that 2-3/4” mark! Do that on both sides. You will then flip those pieces over and layer them on the bottom of the mountains. Then decorate your card as you wish!!! If you want to watch a video of me using this technique click here!

I always need Thank You cards so I went with that greeting for this card. I used the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series which is one of the items you can earn for FREE through Sale-A-Bration! The greeting is from the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set! The things I love the most about this fabulous card is that you can get 2 out of one sheet of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and you get to see both sides of the fabulous paper. It is hard for me sometimes to pick which side of paper I want to use and this card doesn’t require that decision! 🙂 I hope you enjoyed this technique and try it out for yourself! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

More Retro Fresh Fun!!!!

Retro Fresh Washi Tape, www.LaurasStampPad.comSome may think this card is a bit much with all the colors and stripes but others may say it is colorful and amazing! I used the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper for the background and Retro Fresh Washi Tape on both ends of my Deco Label greeting piece. I love coloring my flowers different colors with the markers and this image is perfect for that! The flowers and greeting

Retro Fresh Washi Tape, www.LaurasStampPad.comcome from the Embellished Events Stamp Set! That is one of my favorites because it has great images and perfect greetings for all occasions! Added a little Chevron ribbon to the card to complete it! Let me know in the comments what you think!!!

The card here on the left is so simple and FABULOUS! I used the Retro Fresh Washi Tape and just layered them on Very Vanilla. Then I layered that onto Coastal Cabana and So Saffron! The greeting is from the Million and One Stamp Set…..love it because the other greeting says FABULOUS! 🙂

What do you think about the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper and Washi Tape?? Here is another post with samples! Loving it yet?

All NEW Retro Fresh!!!!!

Posted on

Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper, www.LaurasStampPad.comThe Occasions Mini Catalog is HERE!!!! Woot Woot! There is a new collection – Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper and Washi Tape! I have loved playing with these. The colors are a little out of my usual because there is brown in there 😉 but Coastal Cabana always draws me in!!!! All of the colors in this paper include Baked Brown Sugar, So Saffron, Coastal Cabana, Very Vanilla, and Tangerine Tango! I love how just a little piece of the Designer Series Paper makes this card POP! Those little pieces are 1″ x 2-1/2″ so in a 12″ x 12″ sheet, you can make millions of these cards! I used my markers to get the different colors on the greeting! The greeting is from the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set! I love all of the thank you greetings in this set! I added a few Candy Dots to the bottom for a little pop of color and texture! I use those the same way I use pearls and rhinestones rather than as brads. Be sure to check back for more samples using this Designer Series Paper and the Washi Tape!

Technique Tuesday – Nice & Simple Notepads!

Posted on

It is Tuesday and so I’m sharing a fabulous technique with you!!! This week it is these adorable Notepads!

Notepads, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I LOVE these super simple notepads! They make perfect gifts! I actually gave them to all of my Bridesmaids for part of their gift! Stampin’ Up sells our clear stamp cases 4 in a pack so it is super easy!!!!

Supplies You Will Need:  Clear Cases, Designer Series Paper, Jr. Legal Paper Pads (or Post-It Packs), Ribbon, and Sticky Strip

Take your Designer Series Paper and cut it down to 10-1/2 x 7″ and slide it into the clear front cover! (This is great for those pieces you have been holding onto forever for that perfect project or large scraps!) Add Sticky Strip to the back of your pad of paper and adhere that to the inside cover. (NOTE: If you are using Jr. Legal Pads, you will have to cut off a little over an inch to make it fit! I have found Post-It packs and various others that fit without cutting!) Then you can decorate the spine of your case with ribbon! Done!

The best thing about these is you can always add more paper once you run out so no need to throw it all away once it is gone! It is perfect to toss in your purse because the edges won’t get ruffled! Or you can put one by the phone and you will always be able to find it because of the clear plastic case and fabulous decorations! Make a few of these to have on hand for that last minute gift you might need this Holiday Season!

Curly Paper Fall Wreath!

Posted on

Curly Paper Wreath, www.LaurasStampPad.com

When I saw this wreath, I thought I HAVE to do that! I had a fall wreath hanging on my front door but I wasn’t super excited about it. In less than 2 hours, I found this wreath, cut the strips of Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper, and made the wreath…..all while watching Dancing With The Stars!!!! Now that is multi-tasking at it’s best, right?? All you need is a foam wreath and I have been re-using this one for over a year! Woot Woot! You will need Designer Series Paper or solid cardstock in 1/2″ strips and then you will run the strip over your bone folder (the same way you run curling ribbon over scissors). This will break the fibers and cause the cardstock to curl – Designer Series Paper curls easy but regular cardstock you need to run through at least 2 times! Then you will take a straight pin and place it in the middle of your curl onto your wreath! Repeat a million more times! haha Just kidding, it really doesn’t take that long. I’ll be honest, I looked at this and thought I’ll be here all night but it comes together quickly. You can then pull all of the curls off and do it with Winter Frost Designer Series Paper for the Winter Season! I’m loving it!!!! Now go try it out and send me a picture of your Curly Paper Wreath!!! I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Technique Tuesday – Flip Flop Card

Posted on

It is Tuesday and so I’m sharing a fabulous technique with you!!! This week it is the Flip Flop Cards!!!

Flip Flop Card, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Okay so Stampin’ Up came out with these amazing Thinlit Dies which makes making Flip Flop cards super easy! But I have some tips for using the Thinlit Dies and a little extra trick to show you! The card above was created in Gumball Green and I used the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper to decorate it. The circle is a 2-1/2″ Circle Punch from Whisper White and the cute little chameleon is from the Tag It Stamp Set! I just wish you all could Flip Flop the card in person since it is so much fun!Stampin' Up Thinlits, www.LaurasStampPad.com

The Thinlits are available in two different styles and check out all the amazing goodies you get with each one! You will notice that the dimensions for the card are 6-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. In the card above, you can see there really isn’t a spot to write your greeting. Although I have used the back for that which works perfect (and then you are using all of the card 🙂 ). But here is a trick for you to have an extra spot to write your greeting! Cut your cardstock to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″ (regular card size) and you will put it in the Big Shot with the Thinlit but on the end you will pop it through and leave the “tail” on the top side so it doesn’t get cut when running it through the Big Shot. See photo below and how the cardstock is above the Thinlit on the right side.

Flip Flop Thinlit, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Dimensions: Card – 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″, Candle Designer Series Paper Piece – 1-7/8 x 5-1/4″, Inside Polka Dot Designer Series Paper – 2-3/4 x 5-1/4″, Whisper White Greeting Piece – 2-3/8 x 5-1/4″, Outer Flap of Polka Dot Designer Series Paper – 2-3/8 x 5-1/4″. And when you have assembled your card, you get this! The extra little flip for your message! Super cut and still fits in a regular envelope!!! LOVE IT!

Magnificent Maple!!

Posted on

Gold Glimmer Magnificent Maple Stamp, www.LaurasStampPad.comThis one little single stamp is so amazing – Magnificent Maple! Look how amazing this card is with the maple leaf randomly stamped on the background and then highlighted on the Soft Sky circle! I love how the blue plaid piece of Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper, Champagne Glimmer Paper, and Natural Trim Ribbon make this card pop and look so rustic. And I love the use of blue on this fall card rather than the usual browns, oranges, and yellows!!

Champagne Glimmer Magnificent Maple, www.LaurasStampPad.comHere is another similar card using the Champagne Glimmer Paper, Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper and Natural Trim. But this time I colored the Maple Leaf with my daubers. Check out the technique here! I hope you enjoyed these cards and it got you into the Fall mood! Post in the comments of any projects you are have created with this stamp set!

Try a New Designer Series Paper?

Posted on

Stampin’ Up makes some AMAZING Designer Series Paper! Even the patterns that don’t catch my attention right away, it is caught after seeing a fabulous card or project using it.

Naturals Composition Paper, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This is one of my favorites – Natural Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper. It is only 1 sided (thank goodness, then I don’t have to worry about which side to use)! It is all clear embossed too!!! How fabulous is that? Embossing can really make a project pop but let’s be honest that thought goes away sometimes when I think about having to dig out the powder and the heat tool. There are 6 different designs – woodgrain, musical notes, all over flowers, flowers in the corner of note paper lines, damask, and another flor-de-lies type pattern. You can add some color to this paper with your sponge daubers and it will pick up the color in the non-embossed areas like this sample below!

Naturals Composition Paper, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Super fun to add color to each of the flowers too! You know how I love flowers! I hope you give this paper a shot! It is amazing the more you play with it! TIP: The paper comes in 12″ x 12″ sheets, use pieces on your card that are 3″ x 4″ or 2″ x 4″. When using increments like that you will get more out of your paper with fewer scraps left over!

This & That Journal Books

This & That Journal 2

Stampin’ Up introduced the This & That Journal Album and while I thought it was super cute I didn’t think I would really use it much since I have my Big (12×12) album! I’ll do a post later this week on my Big Album using My Digital Studio! But I went ahead and bought the This & That Journal and now I LOVE IT! I made myself do a page or 2 and I was hooked. It is so much fun and super easy. Since it is smaller, you have less to “create” on the page so it’s quick and the pages are already printed Designer Series Paper so you don’t need to do a lot of layering! I have also started using this album for all of my tickets, brochures, and other items I on our trips and adventures. The page above from when my husband and I went to the Zoo for a “day date.” I threw a few of my favorite pictures on there and and did some journaling. I normally don’t like to share a lot of my scrapbooking because, I think like many others, we don’t like our own handwriting or we think our pictures that we love others will think are crazy. But I still scrapbook because these are memories I want to keep forever so you should do it too even if you don’t like your pictures or handwriting! Here are a few more pages in my album!!!

This & That Journal, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Here is a page from when I had my hair chopped off earlier this year so I could donate it! It was the most amazing feeling ever to think I was helping someone! I saved the receipt from the post office when I mailed it off and a magazine cut-out with the how-to on donating!

This & That Journal, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I love my family so much and having precious photos of them makes me so happy! My niece and I took that fabulous photo at Silver Dollar City this summer! The photo on the right is of my Dad and all of his grandkids (my nieces and nephews) at his 60th Birthday Party! Precious!

This & That Journal, www.LaurasStampPad.com

And of course I have a page with my AMAZING Stampin’ Up! girls! This was at a demonstrator event this past Spring! Love these girls so much!

I hope this gave you some inspiration and fabulous ideas! Start your This & That album today! You can use it for a vacation album, all year, album, or whatever you would like to remember for years to come! Get yours today!

Happy Stampin…..and Scrappin!

And with this Envelope Punch Board you can create these envelopes in whatever color, pattern, and size you desire (Stampin’ Up gives dimensions right one the board for 66 different envelope sizes)!
