Technique Tuesday – Copper Leaves Without Using VersaMark!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! You all know what that means!! I have a fabulous technique to share with you today and I came upon it by accident and loved it!!! These copper leaves were created without using VersaMark! I simply poured the powder over the top after stamping and it stuck in random spots where their was still moisture from the stamped leaf.

Copper Leaves Without Using VersaMark, www.LaurasStampPad.com

You will have to watch the video on this one to really see all of the beauty on this card with that copper shine. Link to that is below!

I started with a Crumb Cake card base. Next, I layered on a piece of Cajun Craze measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″! Now for those amazing leaves using the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set! Don’t forget today is the last day to get this set at 15% off in celebration of World Card Making Day! I stamped the large solid leaf in Cherry Cobbler Ink and then the small solid leaf in Cajun Craze Ink. Then, I stamped the outline leaf in Cherry Cobbler Ink (you can pick whichever color) and right away after I finished I poured Copper Embossing Powder over the top. The powder will still to the moisture in the ink from stamping the leaves. Then, I set it with the Heat Tool.

This will come out differently each time you do it. There are lots of different factors. How quickly you stamp and pour the powder is one of the big ones. Another thing you can do is allow the solid images to dry for a minute or more (or set it with the Heat Tool). Then when you stamp the outline, the powder will only stick to the outline images. I just love how the powder is random and the leaves are still that fabulous dark color. Also, I love how I don’t have to get out my VersaMark Pad as well as the colors! 🙂

Copper Leaves, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Look at the shine? I love it!!! Once I was finished with this piece, I added it to the card front. For the greeting, I die cut a Stitched Shape Oval and stamped the greeting from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set. I added loops of Copper Metallic Thread to the back and added it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Copper Spotted Leaves, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This card is perfect for any occasion in the Fall. Just change up the greeting!!! What greeting would you put on this card? Let me know in the comments below!

September 2017 Paper Pumpkin Kit!!!

Posted on

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Today, I wanted to show you the September 2017 Paper Pumpkin Kit and some alternatives I created!

September 2017 Paper Pumpkin, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Look at those stunning fall leaves. I just fell in love with this kit because I loved how simple the leaves were individually but then all together they are stunning! Be sure to stamp the large leaf before popping the die cut out. I find it is much easier to stamp that way!

I created the 8 little mini cards as intended. They were fairly simple to create and I loved the embossed card front….even though the leaves cover most of it.

Fall Treat Boxes, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Then the rest of the kit was these cute treat boxes. I think they are adorable but I just don’t think I will need lots of treat boxes within the next few weeks so I only made 2. Then I took the rest of the boxes and cut off the ends and cut the sides to create 2 rectangle embossed pieces of kraft paper. Using those pieces I create all of these cards!!!

Paper Pumpkin Alternatives, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I ripped one end of the kraft piece and then added it like a banner to the card base. I used Old Olive and Crushed Curry cardstock for the card bases. Then I simply added the leaves the same way as the mini cards. I wrapped the Baker’s Twine around the spine and added the greeting! The greetings in this set is just fabulous! Then I ran of out of the Baker’s Twine and most of the leaves so I made the 2 in the lower right corner. I love them! I always need cards to send out, especially Thank Yous so these are perfect! If you don’t need treat boxes, I hope these inspire you!

Don’t forget to sign up for the October Paper Pumpkin before tomorrow! Click here to get your kit!

Season of Style, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Sneak peak…..these are the boxes for October and November. Stampin’ Up says these kits coordinate together but you don’t need them both to create the kit! That’s got me super excited and I can’t wait to see it!

Simple Sunflowers Are Pretty Too!

Posted on

Happy Friday!!! I posted the most favorite fall card this season by my class attendees and by me! You can check it out here but simple is just as fabulous too!

Simple Sunflowers, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This is one of those quick and simple cards that you can whip up in no time at all but yet it still looks stunning! Those sunflowers from the Painted Harvest Stamp Set are just amazing!!!

I started with a Crushed Curry card base! Next I took a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″. I stamped the greeting from the Painted Harvest Stamp Set in the middle in Early Espresso Ink. Then I stamped the sunflowers in Crushed Curry Ink with Early Espresso centers. I just love that there is no real lining up the 2 images perfectly, just stamp and go. You also don’t have to worry about stamping off. It just simple stamping and adhering! Quick and simple to create! After adding this piece to the card front, I thought it needed a little bit more. I added a few Old Olive Enamel Shapes to finish it off! Which do you prefer – simple like this or more stepped up like this one??

Distressing the Merry Music Designer Paper!!!

Posted on

By distressing the Merry Music Designer Paper, it makes it look rustic and I love the texture!!! What do you think?!?!?!Distressing the Merry Music Designer Paper, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I love the glitter and shine that goes with the distressed look. This is a rather simple Christmas card which is perfect for making multiples!!!

I started  with a Crumb Cake card base. Next, I took a piece of Cherry Cobbler (4″ x  5-1/4″) and stamped the city image from the Night in Bethlehem Stamp Set in Cherry Cobbler Ink. Then I added this piece to the card front.

Now for the distressed technique! I simply took a piece of the Merry Music Designer Series Paper (2″ x 5″) and crumpled it up into a ball. Once I had it in a nice tight ball, I gently unrolled it back out. Be careful not to rip it as sometimes it gets soft and this designer paper is thinner. Next, I took a Sponge Dauber with some Early Espresso Ink and lightly brushed over the top. The ink picks up on the creases more for a nice distressed look. Once I had the look I wanted, I added adhesive on the back and placed it on the left side of the card. Be sure to just press it onto the paper all crinkled to keep that texture and distressed look!

Now for the greeting, I took a piece of Whisper White (1-1/2″ x 3-1/2″). I stamped the greeting in Cherry Cobbler Ink from the Night In Bethlehem Stamp Set. Next, I layered this onto a piece of Gold Glimmer Paper measuring 1-3/4″ x 3-3/4″. I added the greeting to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. To finish it off, I added a few Metallic Enamel Shapes for a little bit more bling!

Gather Together & Give Thanks!!!

Posted on

Gather together & give thanks…..that greeting warms my heart. I love spending time with family and friends and we always need a reminder to give thanks for the amazing blessings we have in our lives. This is just another reason Thanksgiving is my 2nd favorite holiday behind Easter!

Gather Together & Give Thanks, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This card has been a big favorite at all of my classes and of course it is….it has a flower!!! 🙂 You all know I love flowers!

I started with a Crushed Curry card base. Next I took a piece of Early Espresso (5-1/4″ x 2-1/2″) and ripped along one edge for a rough look. Be sure to rip slowly in small amounts and not just one full rip down the entire piece. I layered on a piece of the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper (5-1/4″ x 2″). I added this piece to some Very Vanilla measuring 5-1/4″ x 4″. Next I stamped the greeting from the Painted Harvest Stamp Set in Old Olive and the dots in Lemon Lime Twist. You could stamp the dots at the end after putting it all together or you can do it now. Next, I added this to the card front!

Sunflower, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Now for the focal point of that amazing flower! I used the Painted Harvest Stamp Set and coordinating Leaf Punch (Bundle and Save 10%). The flower was stamped in Crushed Curry Ink (full strength both time) and Early Espresso for the center. I did fuzzy cut the flower which isn’t my favorite but sure looks amazing! The leaves were stamped in Lemon Lime Twist first and then Old Olive on top. Using the Leaf Punch, I punched them out! For adding it to the card front, I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to secure the leaves to the back of the flower and then to the front of the card! To finish off the card, I added a few Crushed Curry Enamel Shapes! I just love it!!!

Don’t forget you can get the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper as part of the Buy 3, Get 1 Free Designer Series Paper Special this month!

Technique Tuesday – Adding a Foil Border!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! That means  I have a fabulous technique for you today….or in this case, it is kind of like a hack! Adding a foil border to your project with the Year of Cheer Designer Washi Tape is simple, less layers than adding foil paper, and more cost effective!!! Woot Woot!

Adding a Foil Border, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Isn’t this card just stunning and perfect for any Fall occasion?!?!? It was super simple using the Washi Tape rather than cutting a large piece of Foil Paper to cover up most and just allow the border!

I started with a Crumb Cake card base. Next, I took a piece of Always Artichoke (5-1/2″ x 2″) and placed it on my card front. You can go ahead and adhere it down and place the Washi Tape next to it or simple place it there as a guide and then add it later. Add a strip of the Copper Washi Tape from the Year of Cheer Washi Tape Pack on the top and bottom. Then you can add the strip of green if you haven’t already.

For the leaves, I stamped 2 of them on Very Vanilla squares measuring 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set. I used Cajun Craze Ink and Cherry Cobbler Ink. Be sure to stamp off once on the solid image and then go full strength on the outline image. The center leaf was die cut with the coordinating Seasonal Layers Framelits from Copper Foil Paper. I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere it. When placing the squares onto the card front, I started with the outside ones making them flush with the edge of the card. Then I added the center one. To finish off the card, I added the greeting at the bottom in Early Espresso Ink!

You can purchase the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set at 15% off with the World Card Making Day Special going on till October 10th! Be sure to check out those deals here as well as the Buy 3, Get 1 Free Designer Series Paper Special here.

Year of Cheer Suite!!!

Posted on

My favorites in the Holiday Mini Catalog are mostly from the Year of Cheer Suite!!! I just love all the bling and shine!!!

Year of Cheer Suite, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Look at all of the bling??? It’s just stunning! This card  is perfect for Thanksgiving or you could change up the greeting for any other occasion!

I started with a Whisper White card base. Next, I layered on a piece of the Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″. For the greeting, I cut a piece of Whisper White (3″ x 2-1/2″) and added strips of the Year of Cheer Washi Tape. I just added a piece and ripped the ends. Before adding this to the card front, I cut a Silver Foil Snowflake in half and added it to either end.

Metallic Washi Tape, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Next, I stamped the greeting from the Paisleys & Posies Stamp Set in Basic Gray Ink onto Whisper White. I simply cut around the greeting close by so that I could pop it up over the washi tape with Stampin’ Dimensionals!!! Trick or Treat Kitty!!!

Posted on

I love kitties (insert….soft kitty, warm kitty, purr purr purr) so when the Cat Punch came out I knew I wanted it. I’m not a huge Halloween person but this Trick or Treat Kitty is cute!!! I decided to get the punch and the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper and use those items for a few Halloween goodies!

Trick or Treat Kitty, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This quick and simple card is perfect for Halloween!

I started  with a Very Vanilla card base. I added a strip of Basic Black (4-1/4″ x 2-1/4″) to the left side. Next, I layered some of the Spooky Night Designer Paper on top (4-1/4″ x 2″). There are 2 sheets of the designer paper with kitties all over them in black and orange so I punched those out! It was super simple! Some of the kitties aren’t a full one but you could always use those on another project with him peaking out from a doorway or from a potted plant or on the side of a card!

Spooky Night Designer Paper, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Since some of the kitties are orange and others are black, I used the 2″ Circle Punch to punch out orange and black circles to alternate! This is a great way to use the same concept and all the kitties! I added the kitty to the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals for a little texture. The greeting was stamped in Pumpkin Pie Ink from the Seasonal  Chums Stamp Set. I simply stamped the middle one first and then above and below without going back to the ink. To finish it off, I added some Pumpkin Pie Enamel Shapes!

Halloween Kitty, www.LaurasStampPad.com

The card will be perfect for my nieces and nephews for Halloween this year!!! I love that I can use the Spooky Nights Designer Series Paper for non-Halloween occasions as well because  the other side of the paper is more generic prints. Very versatile for all your crafting needs and for those who don’t like Halloween as much!

Do you like Halloween?? Let me know in the comments below!
