I was asked by the local Library to create a craft at a Volunteer Luncheon that they were having as a Thank You to these lovely ladies! The theme was butterflies and here is what I came up with!!!
The other project that everyone got to make was 1 of these bookmarks! I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5-1/2″ x 2″. The tops were punched out using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and Ornate Tap Topper Punch!
Both of these projects were lots of fun to create and simple enough for those who have never crafted before. It was a wonderful time celebrating all the amazing things these women do at the Library and they really enjoyed the afternoon! I had so much fun!
Happy Tuesday!!! You know what that means….I have a fabulous technique to share with you! You have seen the Cards in a Box before here and here! Well I have another version of a box card and it is super cute and I would say it is easier!!! I sure thought so!
See how cute??? It does still fit in a regular Medium Envelope too!!! Now let’s get started!
Starting with a piece of cardstock measuring 4-1/4” x 11”, you will score along the 11” side at 1/2”, 4-3/4”, 5-3/4, and 10” with your Paper Trimmer or Simply Score Tool. Turn the cardstock 90 degrees and score along the 4-1/4” side at 1”. Cut along all of the solid lines as shown in the template below. You will be removing the 1/2″ x 3-1/4″ piece on the far left. You will be removing a 1″ x 3-1/4″ piece in the middle and on the far right. Then you can either place the cardstock into your Paper Trimmer or free hand it, you will be cutting 4-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ from the right hand side front piece. This is what allows the box to be open in the front but still have that back piece! Now it is time to assemble. Add Sticky Strip or Fast Fuse to that far left tab (1″ x 1/2″) and then lay the card flat and close it, allowing the adhesive to stick to the opposite end. By laying it flat to seal it, you make sure that is isn’t crooked or off. It will now be flat and close well for mailing!
Now with a piece of cardstock measuring 1” x 5-1/4”, you will score 1/2″ from each end along the 5-1/4” side. This will be uses on the inside of the box to hold your greeting (That middle piece of cardstock in the photo above!) Fold along score lines to create a “Z” shaped fold. Add Sticky Strip or Fast Fuse to both scored ends of 1” x 5-1/4” strip on opposite sides. Now you will place it on the inside of your box with the sticky facing out to adhere to the sides of the box.
Now you can decorate!!! I used the Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Mini Catalog for the back (3″ x 4″) and for the front lip (3/4″ x 4″). I layered the Designer Series Paper piece on the lip onto a piece of Tangelo Twist (7/8″ x 4-1/8″). For the greeting, I stamped Birthday from the Bloom with Hope Hostess stamp set on a scrap piece of Whisper White and made little banner tips. I added this with Stampin’ Dimensionals (of course)! I used the Cupcake Builder Punch for the background. For the Happy, I used the Hello You Thinlits and some Gold Glimmer Paper. I LOVE how that turned out – just beautiful! I used some Multipurpose Liquid Glue (green lid) to adhere it to some little Window Sheets and then adhered the window sheets to that center tab! Love it!!!! Super cute and fun to create and give!!!
Don’t forget to save the negative of your Happy to use on another project like this one! I love using up scraps and getting the most out of my paper!!!!
I have done so many sets of cards using the One Sheet Wonder Technique! It is just so much fun and it is great to get lots of cards from just one sheet of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper!! You can check out more samples here and here! I created this set with all Thank You greetings because it will be a Bridal Shower gift for a friend of mine! I love it!!! Here is the template for cutting the piece of 12″ x 12″ Something Borrowed Designer Series paper!
Now for a close up on those cards so you can see all of the details!
I used the Million and One Stamp Set and Lovely Amazing You Stamp Set! The colors I used were Pool Party and Whisper White! Since I narrowed it down to those two colors it was really simple to just pull out my scrap bags in those colors and some full sheets and I was able to get started! For the embellishments, I used a few flowers punched out with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and Pearls! I also added some of the Pool Party Cotton Ribbon! I love this ribbon because it is soft and easy to use. It also isn’t super wide or thick to cause a lumpy spot on your card!
You will see on many of these cards, I used the Fork Bow Technique to create those little bitty bows which are just precious! You can see a video tutorial on how to make those here! Also, I used the Decorative Label Punch and Artisan Label Punch for the greetings on a few of them! I love how each card is different but yet uses the same colors and style! I love them!
If you would like to see these cards in action, I created a Video to show them off! You can check that out below! Don’t forget to subscribe to My Channel so you don’t miss out on any future videos!
Have you tried out this technique yet? What are you waiting for? Leave me a comment below what Designer Series Paper you plan on using for this technique!
Happy Friday!!!! I just wanted to say how much I love all of my Subscribers, Followers, and even those of you who are visiting for the first time! I officially have viewers coast (New York) to coast (Washington) which is just amazing!!!! I know this because I have received Ronald McDonald card donations from wonderful ladies in these states!!! I want to send a huge THANK YOU to Ardy in Washington for these amazing cards. I will be taking them to the Ronald McDonald House the next time! I know they will enjoy them! Thank you!
You all make me feel so special by the love to show! Thank you all so very much!!!
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Friday without the Weekly Deals!!!!
Of course, my favorite items are the Ribbons!!!! That is by far my favorite embellishment!!! I do know of a few customers of mine who will be even more excited to see those Kraft Journal Books even further on sale! Woot Woot! One of my customers decorates them up and gives them as gifts! Super cute! She also uses them herself for various lists she wants to keep track of including her Stampin’ Up Wish List! 🙂 Love it!!!
I LOVE this card….which is why I paired it with the Melon Mambo envelope! <3 It was super fun to make and you can make tons of them because the template in the kit is reuse-able! Again, I used my Sponge Daubers for this one rather than the included spritzer. I like to have more control over my color and get a strong line image. I love the bright colors and bold look of this sun! You could always do it in other colors as well. Many of my stampers at the class I held on this kit did Melon Mambo. They sure know the way to my heart! 🙂 TIP: If you drop your sponge dauber down at the center circle of this template and rub out on each ray you will get a fabulous ombre look. It will be really dark around the center and lighten up as you go out! It looks amazing!!! I stamped my greeting from Age Awareness and add all the little goodies which were provided in the kit. I would love to do this card with a greeting stamped in the middle of the sun and maybe some Dazzling Details! That would be awesome too!!
Now for the final card! This card comes scored and cut with that little tab! How cute is that? I used the scallop template for this one and used my Spritzer with Melon Mambo Re-inker in it (Alcohol 70 Proof or less and as few or many drops of re-inker you wish). I love the look of this card as it makes me think of a mermaid but you can see how the lines are very distinct and the colors vary across the card. It looks cool but the OCD in my goes a little crazy. When there is a spot that doesn’t have ink or enough ink, I spritz and spritz and then over do it. Ehhh What are you going to do? Remember less is more! 🙂 I added the wooden greeting and the tag. The little flowers came in the kit but are white so I pounced a few times on them with my Daffodil Delight Sponge Dauber and make them yellow! 🙂 Love it! Here is another photo showing that tab look of this card!
I was really impressed with all of the goodies that were included in this kit and how amazing the cards are! I really loved making them and seeing what my other stampers came up with in the class!
Here is another snapshot of all of the supplies! And here is 1 set of all of the cards. The kit makes 5 each of these!
Be sure to get your kit before it is gone on June 2nd! Click here to get yours! I hope you enjoyed these and if you make these cards and add your own flare I would love to see what you come up with! Please share in the comments below!
This is just one of the fabulous cards you can create from the Hooray It’s Your Day card kit from the Occasions Mini Catalog (which ends on June 2nd)! I had some much fun with this kit and I made a lot of modifications! Remember, you don’t have to follow the instructions on these kits! The kit comes with 5 each of 4 different designs for a total of 20 cards including envelopes. I think the envelopes are my favorite part – Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, and Daffodil Delight! LOVE THEM!!!!
Look at all these goodies!!! Of course the spritzer and mask templates can be used over and over again. Also, there is tons of Washi Tape on that roll and I didn’t come close to using it all. Love it! Okay so let’s get down to the fun stuff!!! I will be showing 2 cards today and the other 2 tomorrow! 🙂
Here is another photo of the File Folder Card! This is super cute and the file folder style is really popular right now. Still not sure if it is my thing but I’ll go with it! TIP: When sealing your Wild Wasabi pocket for the file card to go in, you need to stay really, really close to the edge. Even staying close, I had to cut down my file card. Another option would be to use your washi tape to seal the ends by wrapping it around the side. This would allow for plenty of room for your file card! Then you can decorate as you wish with the thought bubbles, washi tape, wooden stars, and star clip! I used the Crazy About You Stamp Set for this card. (I didn’t purchase the coordinating stamp set – Hooray It’s Your Day and just used a few of my favorite greeting sets!) Also, I didn’t add any color to this one…..I noticed that a few days later that mine didn’t look like the sample in the kit photo! 🙂
I love love love this one because it is an emboss resist card. The card comes already embossed on the front with that fish tail look. What do you call that pattern? Let me know in the comment below! I actually used my sponge daubers on this card rather than the spritzer. You know how much I love those things. Then for the tag, I stamped the greeting from Age Awareness and added a little Washi Tape and Silver Glimmer Paper (included in the kit). The other cool thing about this card is it comes with a gift card holder built in. All of the score lines are created and you just need to add a little adhesive (Fast Fuse works best) on the outer edge! Check this out! Perfect for a Graduation card!!!
Now you have to wait until tomorrow to see the other 2 cards in the kit. Be sure you are subscribed to my blog in the upper right hand corner and you will receive an email of my blog post so you don’t miss out! See you tomorrow!
Happy Tuesday!!! I have a fabulous technique to share with you today and I’m sure you are just as excited as I am because I know you all LOVE the One Sheet Wonder Technique!!!! I just can’t get enough of this technique because it is so much fun and it is so very simple…..once you figure out the template. 🙂 hehe No worries, I have this fabulous template created for you AND a video!!!
Look at all of these cards!!!!! I was able to get 15 cards out of one sheet of the 12″ x 12″ Back to Black Designer Series Paper!!!! Love it! I also love that you can pick a color or 2, a greeting stamp set and you are all set to create! Let’s get started!!!
Of course you can pick any of your favorite greeting stamp sets or one specific greeting that you need to make lots of cards with! The colors that I used are the 2013-2015 In-Colors which are Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana, and Strawberry Slush! I used the markers to color in the Back to Black Designer Series Paper on some of them!!! I love that!
Okay lets get started on the cutting on your Designer Paper first! Starting with a sheet of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper, you will cut at 5-1/2″. This creates a 5-1/2″ x 12″ strip which you will then cut at the following numbers: 4-1/4″, 2-1/4″, 2″, 1-3/4″, 1-1/2″ and you will be left with a little piece that is 5-1/2″ x 1/4″. If you wanted to you could add that 1/4″ onto one of the other pieces (except the 4-1/4″ because then it wouldn’t work). Now set all of those pieces aside and pull in your leftover piece which measures 12″ x 6-1/2″. You will cut at 4-1/2″ all the way across giving you a piece measuring 12″ x 4-1/2″ and then you will cut at the following measurements: 3-1/2″, 1-1/2″, 1-1/2″, 2″, 2″, and 1-1/2 will be left. Now you can cut one of the 1-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ pieces down to just 4-1/4″ and the other one down to 4″. One of the 2″ x 4″ pieces will need to be cut in half to make Two 2″ squares. That last piece that is 4-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ needs to be cut into Three 1-1/2″ squares. All of those little pieces you cut off can be tossed or used on another project OR you can leave some of them and work with a larger piece. Now that top piece that you have left over which measures 2″ x 12″ can be used for more cards like in the set above, I cut it into Two 2″ x 4-1/4″ and the last piece is 2″ x 3-1/2″. That is how I got 15 cards. You could also use that piece as a belly band around a box or cellophane bag that you stick all of the cards in as a gift. You can do whatever you would like with that piece!!!
Now some close ups on the cards…..sorry for the long post today. I hope you are still with me! 🙂
I love the Man Cards that I created with this set, I think I could do an entire sheet of Man Cards with this technique just to get me though a few months of Birthdays!
As you can see some of the…chevron? checker?…whatever that pattern is called….I colored in with my Markers and some of them I left white!
Oh how you know I love my flowers! I colored these in with the Markers! Also, that little Coastal Cabana strip on the left side card is only about 3/4″ wide. It is a scrap piece that I had leftover from another project. Use up those scraps on simple cards like these!!!
As you can see, I didn’t color the flowers on these and they look fabulous as well!
This is the piece that was cut diagonal. You can tear it as well if you would like!
Same style of card but one is colored and one just has a border! Love them both!
I actually didn’t use that 3rd 1-1/2″ square because I added my greeting on there. You can always mix it up and cut larger pieces into little squares like this or leave it long. Mix it up and have fun with it! I love it!!!!
Here is a little Video Tutorial for you to follow along with as well! Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube Channel so you don’t miss out on any of the videos! Click here to subscribe!
I have 2 more sets of these fabulous One Sheet Wonder Techniques so stay tuned. If you want to see some of them that I have done in the past, click here!
It was my husband and I’s Wedding Anniversary at the end of April and if you have followed my blog for long you know I like to make really fun and personal cards for him! You can check out my Mario Card here, Minion Card here, and Kirby here! If you haven’t guessed it, my husband likes video games!!! So for our Anniversary I made him this card!!!!
I really love how it turned out and my husband thought it was really good. He mostly commented on the bricks which I thought was hilarious. He also said that she is cross-eyed and he kept trying to fix it 🙂 I started by making her head which uses Circle Punches, the Owl Builder Punch, the Bird Builder Punch (hair), Hearts A Flutter Framelits, and Oval Punch. I drew her eyelashes on with my Basic Black Marker! For the crown, I used Gold Glimmer Paper and punched 3 petals with the Flower Medallion Punch! Then using some Red Glimmer Paper and the Petite Petals Punch I added that red gem! Here she is close up!
I realized that I couldn’t just put her face on a card so I needed some background and that is when I thought I would create her Castle and make it look like she is hanging out the window waving at Mario or screaming for him to rescue her! I needed a little bit of her body so I punched some more circles! For her collar, I punched the Scallop Oval Punch and cut a piece off! For the gem on her chest I cut out one of the gold circles from the Gold Designer Vellum and trimmed it up! Then I started on the bricks which were created with scraps of Smokey Slate and Basic Gray. I rounded the edges with my Project Life Corner Rounder. I brushed the edges using my Sponge Dauber in Basic Gray and pounced all over with some Encore Silver Ink and a Sponge Dauber! That gave the bricks a bit of a shiny brick look! The placement was a bit tricky but I made it work!!! The best part is it was made for my husband and with love!!! After all our cake topper on our wedding was Princess Peach and Mario!!
I do have to admit that Princess Peach was not my original idea for a card……I planned on doing Grumpy Cat.
She just looks like she was in a fight and is made I put a bow on her head.
