Technique Tuesday – Fork Bow!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! That means I have a fabulous technique to share with you!!! Today the technique is cute, small, and uses a fork!!!

You're In My Thoughts, fork bow, www.LaurasStampPad.com

How adorable is that mini bow???? The technique to make it may seem a little confusing in the beginning but it is real simple and comes out perfect each time! Love it!

Supplies: Fork and Cotton Ribbon

You will need a piece of Daffodil Delight Cotton Ribbon anywhere from 6″-10″ (depending on how long you want your tails) and a fork with four tines. If you are right handed, you will place the fork in your left hand with your thumb up by the tines. Place the ribbon across front of fork with 1/3” of ribbon to left of the fork (this is the left side tail). Now wrap the right end of the ribbon around behind the fork, around left edge, over the top of the first end. It will look like a loop with the ends crossed over each other. Thread the that you just wrapped around the fork down through the space between the center fork tines below where the first ribbon crosses. Next you will pull that ribbon end up behind the fork and through the space between center fork tines. Then you will knot the two ribbon ends firmly. Slide ribbon from fork and trim the tails. If you need to tighten your bow, you will pull the tails, not the loops like in a typical bow!

I know this can be confusing at first which is why I did a Video Tutorial for you!!!! Woot Woot! You will see on the video that you can do this with all types of ribbon! For another sample using this technique, check out this post! I used my scissors for the larger style bow!

For the sample shown above, I used a Strawberry Slush card base and layered Blushing Bride on top! The Designer Series Paper is from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack. This card uses one of the sheets (both front and back) for the pink flowers and the yellow dots! I added a strip of Whisper White Scallop Punched cardstock behind the yellow dots! For the bow, I added a strip of Daffodil Delight Cotton Ribbon across the card and then adhered the bow with a Mini Glue Dot in the center! For the greeting, I stamped in Strawberry Slush using the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set. I added 2 little candy dots on either side to finish it off! I love it! It is pink, flowers, and just adorable. I think you could use this card for lots of different occasions – Baby Girl, Birthday, Anniversary, Wedding, Thinking of You, etc. Which would you use this card for? Leave me a comment down below!

Technique Tuesday – Window Sheet Wonder!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! That means I have a fabulous technique to share with you today!!! Please note that Blendabilities are no longer available with Stampin’ Up! because there was a product issue BUT I know many of you have them so I want to share these cool ideas with you!!!

Stripes on Window Sheet with Blendabilities, www.LaurasStampPad.com

How fabulous is this card? AND it is a man card!!! Love it!!!!!

For this card, I used a Whisper White card base of 4-1/4″ x 11″ and then I cut a piece of Window Sheet measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″. I took the Window Sheet and placed it over some of the diagonal design from the Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper. You could use any type of Designer Series Paper that is stripes, or polka dots or any other design! I used this as my template to dry the lines with the Night of Navy and Old Olive Blendabilities (alcohol markers)!!!! They aren’t straight and they aren’t perfect and some are thick and some are thin but it is okay! Made with love and not perfection! 🙂 I love it all messy though which is super different because I normally like clean, simple, and straight. I used Sticky Strip to adhere the Window Sheet along the top of the card and then covered it up with the Pear Pizzazz Cotton Ribbon. LOVE IT!!! The greeting is from the Remembering Your Birthday Stamp Set!!!

Window Sheet Dots with Blendabilities, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Here is another card that I created by coloring on a Window Sheet. For this one, I embossed the Window Sheet with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder! Then I colored some of the dots with the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities. I will say this only really works with certain images. I tried it with the flowers in the Lovely Lace Embossing Folder and it failed. The markers make streaks and swirls so the images need to be small and not detailed. I used the Crazy About You Stamp Set and coordinating Hello You Framelits (Bundle & Save) for the greeting. I added some Silver Glimmer Paper for a little bling on the bottom! Love it!!!

If you want to see this in action as well as other things you can color, check out my Video Tutorial here!

To see the cards with the Epoxy Stickers, click here! I hope you enjoyed these ways to use your Blendabilities and I hope Stampin’ Up comes out with a new alcohol marker because they are lots of fun!

So Proud of You!!!

Crazy About You, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I love this card because of the coral colors, the greetings and that fun flower embossed background!!! This would make a great Graduation card or for someone who recently go into college, got a new job, or accomplished something great. I started off with a Crumb Cake card base and embossed it with the Lovely Lace Embossing Folder! For the greeting, I used the “so proud of” from the Crazy About You Stamp Set! The YOU was stamped using the Epic Alphabet Stamp Set! Then I colored in the letters with my Calypso Coral Blendabilities. I know those aren’t available any more but I still wanted to share this sample with you. 🙁 Some of you may have these and want to use still use them and for those that don’t have them, you could always use your Markers – Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral. I layered my greeting onto Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral and added it to my card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals! To finish it off, I added some Calypso Coral Seam Binding!!! I am not a huge fan of seam binding since it frays easily and has that vintage look usually but I LOVE the Calypso Coral because it is so bright and fabulous!

Easter Flowers!!!

Easter Sheltering Tree, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Easter is a week and a half away!!!! I love Easter and it is my favorite holiday! I love the bright colors, the Spring weather, the joyfulness and fun of the low-key holiday! Of course, there is also the AMAZING candy at Easter time!!! Since I don’t do a lot of cards for Easter time, I don’t like to spend money on a Easter specific stamp set because I want something more versatile. You want versatile…..Teeny Tiny Wishes is the stamp set for you! I LOVE IT! It has a greeting for everything. That is the greeting I used here with my Modern Label Punch and Word Window Punch. For the flowers, I used the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set from the Occasions Mini Catalog! Love this set! You can see more samples here, here and here! I used Pear Pizzazz for the stems and the flowers are Crushed Curry, Rose Red, and Wisteria Wonder! I rounded the corners of the Whisper White to soften the edges. Want something even more soft? Try the Painted Blooms Cotton Twine! It is soft and easy to tie and not chunky on your card at all!

Let me know what you think of this card? Do you send Easter Cards? This would make a great spring card for any occasion. Also, let me know in the comment below what you favorite Easter candy is!!!!!

I don’t know if I have a true favorite……I love jelly beans, malted eggs, and peeps!

Sheltering Tree!!!

Sheltering Tree Swing, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Simple and fabulous! I love the look of this card. It is just so peaceful and perfect for lots of different occasions. I started with a Crumb Cake card base (4-1/4″ x 11″). Then I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″. All the stamps used were from the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set from the Occasions Mini Catalog! Love it! You can see more samples here and here! I used Chocolate Chip for the greeting, swing, and the tree. For the grass and the leaves, I used Mossy Meadow. I stamped the grass once in full strength and the side two were stamped after stamping off once. For the leaves, I put the stamp on the clear block with the leaves/dots against the clear block (meaning I used the back side). I inked it up in Mossy Meadow, stamped off once, and then onto my card. Then I cleaned it, turned it over, inked it in Mossy Meadow and stamped it full strength. I finished it off with some Painted Blooms Cotton Twine….so soft!! How fabulous is that look?!?!?!? Using that solid back side really gives a great look. I learned this trick when I was watching Stampin’ Up’s Live Leadership Event! I love learning these new tips and tricks!!! Now to figure out what other stamps would look amazing with this trick!

Painted Blooms & Friday the 13th!!!

Posted on

Happy Friday!!!! I hope you all had a wonderful week!!!! I just wanted to share this quick and simple FABULOUS card today to brighten your day!!!

Painted Blooms DSP, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This card uses the Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Mini Catalog! I layered it onto some Rich Razzleberry and then a Blackberry Bliss card base! I added some Blackberry Bliss Satin Stitched Ribbon and the greeting is from the Label Love Stamp Set and coordinating Artisan Label Punch (Bundle & Save)!!! Perfect Anniversary or Wedding card!!!!

BONUS: I started my Laura’s Loyal Stampers this week and this weekend (Today, Saturday, & Sunday), if you place an online order you will earn double points. That means if you place an order for $25 or more, you will earn 2 points. If you place an order for $50 or more, you will earn 4 points and a Free Sale-A-Bration item!!!! Woot Woot!!! I’m so excited to start spoiling you all even more!!! How is that for Friday the 13th!?!?!?!

Of course, it’s not a Friday without the Weekly Deals!!!!

Weekly Deals 3.10

Also, I don’t want to have to say it but I feel you should know sooner rather than later. Stampin’ Up has discontinued the Blendabilities. As I stated last week, they turned the Blendabilities off because of a quality issue that Stampin’ Up and their customers were having. It seems this is a permanent defect in the pens that has microscopic holes in the barrels so they are drying out since they are alcohol. The manufacturer is unable to correct the problem to meet Stampin’ Up! high quality standards and provide a stable, long-term solution so they have been discontinued. 🙁 I am really sad about this but I won’t want to purchase or sell a defective product to all of you. Hopefully since these were super popular, Stampin’ Up will come out with a new Blendable pen soon! Fingers crossed!

A Card For Every Season!

Sheltering Tree Winter, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Have you seen the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set in the Occasions Mini Catalog? It is fabulous! I really wanted it when the catalog came out but thought….”no, I have Lovely As A Tree.” So I waited about a month and a half and the more I saw samples using this set, the more I needed it! I am so glad I got it! It is super fun and versatile! The card above is my winter card using Pool Party and Real Red. I added in some Dazzling Details to really make the snow sparkle! I love it!!

Sheltering Tree Spring, www.LaurasStampPad.com

My Spring Tree makes me so happy because it is PINK! I used Blushing Bride for the card base and the tree uses Blushing Bride and Strawberry Slush! The “grass” is Pear Pizzazz and all of my trees are done in Chocolate Chip!

Sheltering Tree Summer, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This is my Summer Tree because of the bike but you could always flip flop my Spring and Summer Trees or add flowers to the Spring Tree Card. Riding bikes always takes me back to childhood because that is what we did as children all day and all night. I remember my mom calling us in to take baths as we were riding our bikes in circles by the light out by the shed. Love it!!! I used Crumb Cake and Rose Red cardstock. For the stamped images, I used Mossy Meadow for the grass, flower stems, and leaves (stamping off to get those different shades). The flowers were done in Rose Red and the bike was done with Soft Suede and Pacific Point. I did another bike with Basic Black for the base and it POPPED so much more so I would recommend black rather than brown for the bike!

Sheltering Tree Fall, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Then we have our Fall Tree. I used Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry cardstock and some Linen Tread to add to the rustic look! The Tree uses Cajun Craze, Rose Red and Crushed Curry for the leaves. You can stamp the leaves in full strength for a richer look or stamp off once and then onto your tree for a more subtle look.

You could always make up a few of each of these to have on hand for all of your card needs during that season. All of your Birthdays in that season, get this card. They would also make perfect Thinking of You cards, Thank You, and even Sympathy. I love it!!! Don’t think I stopped there with this stamp set either. Be sure to check back as I will be posting so more fun cards using the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set later this week and next week! Afraid you might forget to check back? Subscribe to my blog along the right side and you will get an email every time I post something new!!! How fabulous is that?!?!?

Technique Tuesday – Iris Fold!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! You know what that means….I have a fabulous technique to share with you today!!! I love this one because it creates an amazing look AND it uses little scraps (who doesn’t have millions of those laying around)!!!!

Iris Fold, Scrap Use, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Need a third reason to create this card? It makes a great Man Card!!!! Now lets get started on how I created this!!!!

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Scraps of Paper, 2-1/2″ Circle Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

You will start with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″ and using your 2-1/2″ Circle Punch push it all the way in on right side and center it top to bottom and punch!!! Now apply Snail or Fast Fuse around the circle and start laying your strips of cardstock down. I used Pacific Point, Old Olive, and Basic Gray in the card above. The strips are about 2 inches long (or less) and maybe a 1/4″ wide. Again you can use any type of scrap because no one is going to see the back and you will just lay one down and then the next color and the next. You can do them close together or farther part just be sure that the strip crosses over the other color and that you can’t see light between the strip and the punched circle. Once you have done the first layer, you will add Stampin’ Dimensionals at each cross section and then start in with the second layer. If you need to add in more Stampin Dimensionals, that’s no problem and if you end up not using on that was already placed down, no worries there either. It will help with adhering this piece to your card front! Once you have completed the second round, you are all done!!! At this point you can add ribbon or stamping or any embellishments to the left hand side or leave it black like mine above. Add a few more Stampin’ Dimensionals to the corners and attach it to your card base (I used Old Olive above)! After that piece is in place, you will stamp your greeting. Be sure the greeting is going to fit in the hole. The greeting used above was from Remembering Your Birthday and the coordinating greeting is stamped on the inside! Love it! Simple, quick, Man Card and uses up those scraps!!!

Iris Fold, Scrap Use, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Here is another sample using Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe and Pink Pirouette. I added in some Calypso Coral Seam Binding and the greeting is from Simply Wonderful which is a free Sale-A-Bration item! You can still earn this stamp set for FREE with a $50 (US) order placed through the end of this month! Shop here and you will also earn points as a Laura’s Loyal Stamper!!!!

Technique Tuesday – Beautiful Bokeh!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! That means I have a fabulous technique to share with you and this one is exactly that….fabulous!!! I’m sure you have heard of or see the Bokeh look before. It is those shiny blotches of light in a photograph. So the real definition is the visual quality of the out-of-focus areas of a photographic image, especially as rendered by a particular lens. See you know what I mean, right?

Bokeh Technique, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Isn’t this just gorgeous??? I used Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzleberry for the background and the greeting is from the Feel Goods Stamp Set! This style I got from a fellow demonstrator Mary Ellen! You can check her out here and see her tutorial on this technique here! I love the idea of using Painter’s Tape to hold down your Watercolor Paper and it gives that perfect trim!!!

Bokeh Technique, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Here is another look at this technique!!! With this one, I just added a few brush strokes of ink (Island Indigo and Pool Party) to some Watercolor Paper with my Aqua Painter. After it dried, I used the Wondrous Wreath Berry Stamp to create the dots. I added the dots with Whisper White Craft Ink! How fabulous?!?! The greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set! I layered it with the Oval Punch and Scallop Oval Punch! Here is another sample using Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant. I added some Dazzling Details and the dots were created with Whisper White Ink and my pencil eraser!!!

Bokeh Technique, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Want to see this in action?? Check out my Video Tutorial below! Be sure to give it a thumbs up if you like it!!!

I hope you try out this technique and let me know how it goes. I would love to see your creations. You could do this technique in a million different colors and get a different look with each! Love it!

I used one of the Note Cards & Envelopes and stamped the background with the 5 dots from the Best Day Ever Stamp Set in Coastal Cabana! I brushed the edges with my Sponge Dauber for some added color and adhered this to the card front with some Stampin Dimensionals.
