Technique Tuesday – Ombre Butterfly!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! You know what that means! I have a fabulous technique to share with you today. Creating an ombre butterfly, adding some splatters to your card and adding a hint of glitter with Wink of Stella! I love it all!!

Ombre Butterfly, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Isn’t this card just beautiful?!?!?! It is so much better in person so be sure to check out the video tutorial below to take it all in! Let’s get started on this amazing card!

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Butterflies Thinlits, Gold Metallic Thread, Wink of Stella, Aqua Painter

So remember last week when we die cut the white butterfly out for that beautiful card? Today we are using that white butterfly that was created with the Butterflies Thinlits! Using your Aqua Painter, you will color the butterfly with Watermelon Wonder. I started in the middle and worked my way to the tips of the wings. I got this amazing ombre look and LOVE IT!!! Just remember that each time you grab some ink, start in the middle and work your way out! Then I brushed the butterfly with the Wink Of Stella for that perfect shine! For the card, I used Tip Top Taupe for the base and added a layer of Mint Macaron (4″ x 5-1/4″). Then I took a piece of Whisper White (3-3/4″ x 5″) and added the splatter. I did this by squeezing the Aqua Painter a bit (just a bit) and picked up some Tip Top Taupe. I tapped the pen against my finger so it would splatter on the card. This is one of those techniques that isn’t going to be perfect. If you think you want a little more or some in a specific spot, don’t do it! 🙂 It might end up dripping too much water or just never hitting that spot. After all it is suppose to look messy! After your splatters, you are ready to add your washi tape. I used the It’s My Party Washi Tape and added some on the top left and bottom right. Then I stamped the greeting from the Greatest Greetings Stamp Set in Tip Top Taupe. Now you can add this piece to your card base. For the butterfly, I added Mini Glue Dots to the back down the middle. I wrapped some Gold Metallic Thread around 4 fingers about 10-15 times (up to you as to how much you want). I slide the thread off my fingers and twisted it in the middle into an 8 and then placed it on the Mini Glue Dots. You can add more Mini Glue Dots to the top of the thread if you need to or just add the butterfly like that to your card! LOVE IT!

Butterfly Cut Out!!!

Posted on

Butterfly Cut Out, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I am loving this butterfly cut out look! It’s so elegant and amazing! That bling just makes it so much more fabulous as well! 🙂

I started with a Blackberry Bliss card base measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″! Then I took a piece of Whisper White (4″ x 5-1/4″) and die cut out the butterfly using the Butterflies Thinlits. I did my diagonal because butterflies are always on the move and I knew I wouldn’t get it perfectly centered! TIP: Save the white butterfly that you die cut out for another project that I’ll be posting on Tuesday! Now you will run the piece of cardstock with the die cut butterfly through the Big Shot in the Fluttering Embossing Folder. Now you have your base. You will want to adhere your piece of cardstock to the back of this piece covering the Butterfly hole. I used Hello Honey (2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″) but you can pick any color or let the Blackberry Bliss shine through and then do a Hello Honey butterfly. It is all up to you! Once you have your colored cardstock on the back, you can adhere it to your card base! Then I die cut a Blackberry Bliss butterfly with the Butterflies Thinlit and placed it right in the butterfly spot on the card. I only placed Mini Glue Dots down the center of the butterfly so the wings could pop up! Then I added a string of Rhinestones but I did Pearls on another one and that looked fabulous too! For the greeting, I took a piece of Hello Honey measuring 4″ x 1-3/4″ and stamped the greeting from the Crazy About You Stamp Set in Blackberry Bliss! Then I added it to my card front and tied some Whisper White Satin Stitched Ribbon around the card front between the greetings. When I was creating this card, I thought it was just stunning and then I added the greeting and I wasn’t as impressed. I didn’t really know what it was. At the stamp class where everyone made this card, they all loved it but mixed up the greetings. Some said “You Amaze Me. Happy Graduation.” and others said “Happy Birthday. You Amaze Me.” I loved how it turned out. I think I just don’t like the same greeting twice like I did on my card. Either way, I think it is stunning and you could do orange and yellow or black and orange or just about any color combination you wish! Love it!

There’s Always Time For Tea!!!

Always Time For Tea, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I have really been thinking a lot about….stopping and taking time to enjoy life. Then I go to my laptop and work on this blog and this card comes up. I thought, that’s perfect!!! It seems these days, we all get caught up in the craziness that is life but sometimes we need to say No when asked to do just one more task or attend an event. We need to say Yes to relaxing with family, playing with the children, or going on a walk to enjoy the beautiful weather and smell the flowers. It is those things that you said Yes too that will make you happier and more relaxed. We can’t do it all and we shouldn’t try to do it all. I have learned that if I can’t attend an event, I simply send a hand-stamped card (and a gift when applicable) wishing them my best. I do care for that person and would love to celebrate with them but again, we can’t do it all….but there’s always time for Tea! Okay back to stamping…just a few thoughts from me! 🙂

For this card, I started with a Whisper White card base and added a piece of the Have a Cuppa Designer Series Paper measuring 3-3/4″ x 5″ to a piece of Watermelon Wonder (4″ x 5-1/4″).  Believe it or not that was all layered with Snail adhesive and not Stampin’ Dimensionals! 🙂 Then I stamped the cups from the A Nice Cuppa Stamp Set in Watermelon Wonder onto Whisper White and cut it out…..life real fussy cutting. It wasn’t hard at all since it doesn’t have a ton of detail. Of course I did not cut out the inside of the handles. I added the cups to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals! The little heart and tea bag were stamped in Basic Gray. I fussy cut the heart but the tea bag does have a coordinating Framelit Set – Cups and Kettles (no longer available). I added the heart and tea bag to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals as well. I kept thinking the card needed a little something more but when I held it up to the card it was too much. What do you think? Lace Trim? Pearls? Perfect as is? Let me know in the comments below!

Hearts and Flowers???

Posted on

Anniversary Hearts, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I’m not really a hearts and flowers type of girl…..BUT I am a show the love, give a hug type of girl. I think hand shakes are awkward but I will give a hug to anyone I meet. That’s just me. 🙂 I cry at weddings because the amount of love in the room is amazing. I cry at graduations because they have accomplished so much and are moving on to the next step in their life. That’s me!!

Now let’s chat about this amazing this card and not crazy me! I love those interlocking hearts and think they are just fabulous! So simple and yet so sweet! I started with a Bermuda Bay card base and added just a little scrap piece of Have a Cuppa Designer Series Paper (1″ x 5-1/2″). I layered the DSP with a little Melon Mambo scrap peaking out on the right hand side. For the greeting, I die cut one of the Lots of Labels images and cut off the right side bumps to be a flat edge. You can see another sample and how I did that here! I stamped the greeting in Melon Mambo Ink from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set! Then I die cut the hearts from the Cups and Kettle Framelit Set (sold out). I interlocked them and adhered them on with the Fine Tip Glue Pen. I added the greeting to the lower right hand side of my card and then I thought it needed a little bling! I added some Candy Dots and Rhinestones for a little POP!

Are you Hearts and Flowers? Chocolate? Just a good card? Let me know in the comments below! Don’t leave me hanging, I know there are others out there like me! 🙂

Technique Tuesday – Collage Stamping!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! That means I have a fabulous technique to share with you today! We are stamping all kinds of images and lots of different colors and adding texture. It is (was) not really my style but I think I’m starting to love it and I have figured it out!!!

Collage Stamping, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Isn’t this beautiful??? My favorite is that amazing background!!! Let’s get started on this amazing card!

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Timeless Textures Stamp Set, Lots of Labels Framelits, lots of ink pads

I started with a Pool Party card base and stamped the floral image from Timeless Textures all over in Whisper White Craft Ink. You want to do this first so you can set it aside to dry. I didn’t go in any specific pattern, just stamped all over. Then I die cut one of the labels from the Lots of Labels Framelits and cut off the top bubble piece. This created a beautiful banner or tag. It is a super fun way to use the larger framelits on a card as well! Love it! I started with the greeting which is from One Big Meaning Stamp Set. I used my markers to color in the words – Bermuda Bay and Delightful Dijon. I stamped that down and then stamped the floral image right on top of it in Pool Party (stamped off once for a lighter look). Next, I took the tea cup stain image and inked it up in Crumb Cake Ink but then stamped off twice before stamping on my label. Collage stamping is all about the balance of colors and images. If everything was loud and bright it would look like a mess so you need those layers of colors and images. The final image I used is the little dots, again from the Timeless Textures Stamp Set and Tangerine Tango Ink. I stamped a few all around in the full strength. You could always stamp off a bit or even stamp a few times on your project for even more color variation.

Thanks Kindly, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Now your greeting piece is all done and it is time to add texture. I added a little piece of the White Tea Lace Doily to the top of the label and I added strips of Pool Party Cotton Ribbon to the back. I added it to my card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Of course, I thought a little bling would be perfect so I placed a few pearls randomly around the greeting as well! I love it!

Do you like collage stamping? Do you think it looks messy or crowded? It’s okay I do too a bit but it’s super fun too!!! Have you tried it out? I challenge you to play around with a few images and try it out. If you would like to see this all in action, you can check out my Video Tutorial below or click here! Be sure to give it a thumbs up if you liked it and don’t forget to subscribe if your new!

Coffee and A Note of Thanks!!!

Posted on

Coffee Cup, www.LaurasStampPad.com

My husband owns a small company business here in town and they asked me to create some Thank You Notes for their clients! They wanted something in green because that is their company color. They also wanted something coffee themed since they are putting a Starbucks Gift Card in with the card! This is what I came up with and I love it! Simple and fabulous!

I started with a Whisper White card base and wrapped some Black Baker’s Twine around the top twice and tied it into a bow! To pull in a little bit of green, I used the Color Me Irresistible Designer Series Paper and the Deco Label Framelits! Then I die cut a coffee mug from the Cups and Kettle Framelits which are already sold out (sorry). I stamped the greeting on there in Cucumber Crush from the Tin of Cards Stamp Set. I added the mug to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals! Simple!

I kind of wish I would have saved all of the sample photos I created to get this perfect look. I tried green mugs and black lettering and green cardstock with a white layer. There were probably 8 different samples before we reached this one! I love the challenge of coming up with the perfect look that someone has imagined!

Have a fabulous weekend and Happy Friday, the 13th! See you back here on Monday!

You're Lovely, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I love this beautiful flower card and that amazing greeting. Trust Me, You’re Lovely! Everyone should know that they are lovely and amazing….especially all of you amazing followers!! 🙂

I started with a card base of Whisper White. Then I took a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock measuring 4″ x 4-1/2″ and layered a piece of Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper (3-3/4″ x 4″) on top. I added this to my card front and stamped the greeting from the You’re So Lovely Stamp Set from the Occasions Mini Catalog. The greeting was stamped in Basic Gray. The flower was created with the Botanical Builder Framelit Set. Don’t forget that you can Bundle and Save 15% when you bundle the DSP, Framelits, and Stamp Set! The leaves are Mint Macaron and the flowers are Blushing Bride and Crushed Curry. I added the flower to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I adhered the little flower to the bigger flower with the Fine Tip Glue Pen. I used the same pen to adhere the sequins for a little bling to make it lovely!

Technique Tuesday – Baby Block Card!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! You know what that means….I have a fabulous technique to share with you today!! Check out this cute baby card that can be made for a boy, girl, or gender neutral!!! Love it!!

Baby Block Card, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Simple and adorable! You could always change it to be the name of the baby as well! When I first started this card, I didn’t intend on it being a baby card but after I did the first few layers, it screamed baby girl!

Baby Girl, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Doesn’t that scream baby girl??? Come on now!

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Layered Letters Alphabet Stamp Set, VersaMark Pad, Heat Tool, White Embossing Powder, ink colors of your choice

I started with a Whisper White card base and stamped the background with the “X” from the Layered Letters Stamp Set in Blushing Bride. I stamped a few times before going back to the ink to get a variation of color. Then I took some of the Neutrals Designer Series Paper and die cut a star using the Stars Framelits. I added that to the card front as well as the strip of Blushing Bride with the banner tips. You can use the Banner Triple Punch or this trick – cut straight up in the middle and then from each corner to that center cut. I hope that makes sense. Both the star and the banner were added to the card with Snail Adhesive and not Dimensionals. Now for the letters, I took a piece of scrap white cardstock and stamped the rectangle image from the Layered Letters Alphabet Set. For the card above, I used Watermelon Wonder, Calypso Coral, and Blushing Bride (watermelon on both ends). Before cutting them out, stamp the letters in VersaMark and then add your White Embossing Powder. With your Heat Tool, you will set the powder and then you can cut out your letters. I didn’t cut them out first because it was easier to hold onto the piece of paper while using the Heat Tool. When I cut them out, I did a loose cut, not sure close and perfect around the rectangle. I added the letters to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals! 🙂

Baby Boy Block, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Here I made a Baby Boy card using Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay and Pool Party! Just precious!!! I had a stamper who didn’t need a baby card so she made it into a Graduation Card! There are so many different types of cards you could create with this technique!

Let Us Celebrate!!!

Celebrate with the Stars, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This card is super appropriate for today because there is so much to celebrate!!!! The end of April is full of Birthdays and Anniversaries in my family! My parents celebrated their 35th Wedding Anniversary earlier this week, my Aunt and Uncle celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary this week and tomorrow Brad and I will celebrate our 5th Wedding Anniversary!!! Also, today is my Dad’s Birthday!!! I also have a few friends with Birthdays this week as well! Super fun and exciting to let us all celebrate!!! Plus it is FRIDAY!!!

I started this card with a Crushed Curry card base. Then I took a piece of Whisper White (4″ x 5-1/4″) and stamped the little stars from the Balloon Celebration Stamp Set in Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry. Once it is all stamped, I ran it through the Big Shot with the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder! This gives the card some texture and even more stars! I love it! Then because there still aren’t enough stars. I die cut 3 stars with the Stars Framelits in Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, and Silver Foil Paper. I stamped the Let Us Celebrate from the Balloon Celebration Stamp Set and it looked too small so I added the Congratulations as well! Then I added all of the stars to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals! To finish it off, I brushed some Wink Of Stella on the stars and tied some Melon Mambo Stitched Satin Ribbon on there!! I love the bling, the layers, the texture, and the colors!!

All the Stars, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Stars are great for lots of different occasions and they work for both girls and guys! Don’t forget that Graduation is around the corner. This would be great for that!!! What color combination would you use? Let me know in the comments below!

World’s Best Mother!!!

Posted on

World's Best Mother, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Mother’s Day is right around the corner so now is the time to start working on that perfect card for the World’s Best Mother! I could go on and on about why my Mom is the best but I’m sure you all could! To be honest, I’m not sure whether this card will go to my Mom or not. I have a couple ideas for her card and just don’t know which one is best! Maybe I’ll just send her a card every day the week before Mother’s Day with each one saying why she is so fabulous. Wouldn’t that be wonderful……good idea Laura! 🙂 (I’m working on the World’s Best Daughter Award! hehe) Let’s get started on this beauty!

I started with a Whisper White card base and stamped the greeting from the A Nice Cuppa Stamp Set (retiring) in the bottom right corner in Rose Red. Then I took a piece of Old Olive measuring 4-1/4″ x 5″ and placed the vine framelit from the Botanical Builder Framelits diagonal towards the bottom of the cardstock. I ran it through the Big Shot and that is how I created that beautiful vine piece. I placed that on the card lined up with the top. Then I added various flowers which were die cut from the Botanical Builder Framelits. The center flower is in Rose Red and I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it up! The next flowers were done in Pumpkin Pie and I adhered them flat to the card. The little centers were done in Daffodil Delight and I adhered them on with the Fine Tip Glue Pen! The last flowers were die cut in Elegant Eggplant and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added some Pearls to a few of the flowers for a little bling! You could really do any assortment of colors and use up some scraps you have laying around! Love it!
