Happy Tuesday!!! That means I have a fabulous technique to share with you today!!!! I will be showing you emboss resist and watercoloring! I love love love these colors together because they are so bright and cheery!!!!

Emboss Watercolor, www.LaurasStampPad.com

SUPPLIES NEEDED:ย Watercolor Paper, VersaMark Ink, Stamp Set, Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Aqua Painter and Ink Pads

You will want to start out with a piece of Watercolor Paper. The piece I have for the project above is 4″ x 2″. Stamp your image or greeting in VersaMark and then onto your watercolor paper. Be sure to press firmly so that the VersaMark gets in the texture of the paper. I used the greeting from the Big News Stamp Set. Then you will apply embossing powder and heat it with your Heat Tool. I used Gold Embossing Powder on this one and Silver on the sample in the video! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Once it has cooled, you will take your Aqua Painter and your ink pad and paint on your color! Of course, the color and water will resist for the image and only appear around the image. This gives an awesome background. I used Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Pumpkin Pie. If you are using similar colors and want them to bleed together you can overlap them, otherwise just swipe close to the color but not on top of it! This gives an amazing focal point to your project. You can always do this with flowers, greetings, or any other type of image! Here I did it in Silver Embossing Powder!

Make Your Own Background!!!

We all love Designer Series Paper (especially when it is on sale Buy 3, Get 1 Free) but did you know that you can create your own Designer Series Paper? Using any stamp set really, you can create that perfect matching piece. If you want a Melon Mambo flower paper, take one of your favorite flower stamp sets and stamp all over Whisper White or even Melon Mambo cardstock. If you want random splotches, take your Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set or a spritzer bottle if you like living on the edge! I am loving the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set because it has those splotch images that come out perfect every time. When I use my spritzers, it is not the same…..spray once – goes in the eye, spray twice – got the left corner, spray a third time – covered the whole piece in a wet mess. Am I the only person with this problem? My other problem is when it looks perfect, I think maybe a little more in that right corner and I go for it and then it becomes not so perfect. Ehh It’s handmade with love, not perfection! ๐Ÿ™‚

Check out this amazing card. I used the itty bitty dotted stamp in Basic Gray on the background and then filled in with the larger splotch in Tempting Turquoise. My husband said I should have used another color (on the splotches or cardstock) rather than using just Tempting Turquoise. What do you think? Leave me a comment down below! Greeting was stamped from the Big New Stamp Set!

This card was created with the lines image from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set (the one that looks like a car left black marks). The greeting was stamped from Age Awareness! With the lines, you can create an entire background or stamp vertical and horizontal and you will have a cool crisscross pattern! So many options for creating cool backgrounds! Which is your favorite?

Adorable Baby Cards!!!!

Big New Baby Cards, www.LaurasStampPad.com

How precious are these cards? I’ll just answer that for you…beyond precious! All together now…..Awwwwwww! Okay lets get started on how to create these fabulous cards! I used the Big New Stamp Set (check out these samples) which I am currently LOVING! The greetings are amazing and BIG so you just need a little foo foo and then you have a fabulous card! Here I stamped both greetings in Stazon Ink so I could color them in with my markers (Melon Mambo & Pink Pirouette and Pear Pizzazz & Tempting Turquoise). What is with me and Pear Pizzazz lately??? It is my go-to color. For the little girl card, I used the flower from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and added a few Rhinestones (you could do Pearls too). I brushed the edges of the Whisper White with my sponge daubers (love!) and added some of the NEW Cotton Ribbon in Melon Mambo! For the little boy card, I brushed the edges with my sponge dauber and used the star from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack! These are great cards to have on hand for when a little one comes! You could also do one in yellow and gray (oh great idea) or other neutral colors so it could go either way! I love when you can create the same card in both boy and girl styles! LOVE IT!

Let me know what your favorite go-to color is right now in the comments below! Pear Pizzazz for me!

Big News!!!!

Big New Birthday Candle, www.LaurasStampPad.com

So it’s may not really be YOUR Birthday but this Big New Stamp Set is super fabulous and most definitely something to get excited about!!!! What? You think the blog title was misleading? ๐Ÿ™‚

The Big New Stamp Set is super fun! I got it because I loved the big greetings but when it arrived I went to my stamp room and just started playing. Ideas were flowing like crazy and I was giddy with excitement of the cards I was coming up with! I love when that happens! These two cards were created by stamping the candle in Stazon along the bottom and then adding the birthday greeting! Then I colored in the candles with my markers! I LOVE how you can get a masculine and feminine card out of the same style and the color combinations are endless! You can always match the color to the recipient’s favorite color or party theme color. How fabulous is that? Of course I’m loving Bermuda Bay right now and Melon Mambo is always my favorite. For the Melon Mambo card, I added a little 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon in Melon Mambo! Love that ribbon!

Here is another sample that I created on Whisper White cardstock and then added a little 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon in Pool Party!

This past weekend I did this card at a Stamp Party and everyone came up with different ideas for their card. Some stamped the same number of candles as the year the Birthday recipient was going to be, some stamped the candle on the envelope in the shape of the first letter of the recipient’s name (example: Harper was the Birthday Girl getting the card and so she stamped the candle 3 times to create an H on the envelope). It was so fun to see all of the creations everyone was coming up with!!!

There are more fabulous images in this stamp set too so be on the lookout and be sure to add this set to your order! Big New in Clear – 134018ย and in Wood – 134015!
