Technique Tuesday – Adding a Foil Border!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! That means  I have a fabulous technique for you today….or in this case, it is kind of like a hack! Adding a foil border to your project with the Year of Cheer Designer Washi Tape is simple, less layers than adding foil paper, and more cost effective!!! Woot Woot!

Adding a Foil Border, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Isn’t this card just stunning and perfect for any Fall occasion?!?!? It was super simple using the Washi Tape rather than cutting a large piece of Foil Paper to cover up most and just allow the border!

I started with a Crumb Cake card base. Next, I took a piece of Always Artichoke (5-1/2″ x 2″) and placed it on my card front. You can go ahead and adhere it down and place the Washi Tape next to it or simple place it there as a guide and then add it later. Add a strip of the Copper Washi Tape from the Year of Cheer Washi Tape Pack on the top and bottom. Then you can add the strip of green if you haven’t already.

For the leaves, I stamped 2 of them on Very Vanilla squares measuring 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set. I used Cajun Craze Ink and Cherry Cobbler Ink. Be sure to stamp off once on the solid image and then go full strength on the outline image. The center leaf was die cut with the coordinating Seasonal Layers Framelits from Copper Foil Paper. I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere it. When placing the squares onto the card front, I started with the outside ones making them flush with the edge of the card. Then I added the center one. To finish off the card, I added the greeting at the bottom in Early Espresso Ink!

You can purchase the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set at 15% off with the World Card Making Day Special going on till October 10th! Be sure to check out those deals here as well as the Buy 3, Get 1 Free Designer Series Paper Special here.

Year of Cheer Suite!!!

My favorites in the Holiday Mini Catalog are mostly from the Year of Cheer Suite!!! I just love all the bling and shine!!!

Year of Cheer Suite, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Look at all of the bling??? It’s just stunning! This card  is perfect for Thanksgiving or you could change up the greeting for any other occasion!

I started with a Whisper White card base. Next, I layered on a piece of the Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″. For the greeting, I cut a piece of Whisper White (3″ x 2-1/2″) and added strips of the Year of Cheer Washi Tape. I just added a piece and ripped the ends. Before adding this to the card front, I cut a Silver Foil Snowflake in half and added it to either end.

Metallic Washi Tape, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Next, I stamped the greeting from the Paisleys & Posies Stamp Set in Basic Gray Ink onto Whisper White. I simply cut around the greeting close by so that I could pop it up over the washi tape with Stampin’ Dimensionals!!! You could use any greeting for this card based on the occasion you need a card for! I just love it!

July 2017 Paper Pumpkin~Positively Picturesque!!!

Posted on

Happy Monday!!! Today I’m sharing with you the July 2017 Paper Pumpkin Positively Picturesque!!! I love the soft colors and the nature scenes of this kit! Also, I was super surprised with a name like this I was thinking it would be a photo frame or album. I prefer cards so I was excited!

July 2017 Paper Pumpkin Positively Picturesque, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Aren’t these cards just fabulous? There are a total if 8 cards in the kit with adorable lined envelopes. Of course I had tons of Washi Tape left over as well as the stamps and TWO ink spots. Soft Sky and Tranquil Tide were the ink colors this month!

You're The Best, www.LaurasStampPad.com

You all know I love flowers so this one is my favorite. I love how the little scene of flowers peaks through the heart cut out. Also, the heart cut out is used in the other cards. I love when you can use up all of the pieces to create multiple styles of cards. Notice in the card in back, I trimmed my grass to be different heights for a cool look. 🙂

Love You Hearts, www.LaurasStampPad.comWith the heart cut outs, I added some washi tape and the wooden accents to make these two cards. Perfect!

Hello Friend, www.LaurasStampPad.com

The next set has a die cut circle for this amazing mountain scene! Those little clouds in the background are adorable. I didn’t put my mountains down far enough on the one card but that’s okay! The bottom has a strip of Washi Tape to coordinate together and give that front piece a little design.

Washi Circle, www.LaurasStampPad.comThe punched out circles were used for these cards! Do you see them? They are covered in Washi Tape and back the greeting so perfectly. I loved the idea of placing Washi Tape all over the circle to create a whole new look. Love it!

Cut Out Scenes, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Here’s another photo of those cut out pieces showing a scene through the hole. Isn’t that just fabulous?!?! I love it!

I am super excited about the August Kit because I just don’t know what it might be. Also, it’s my birthday month so I’m hoping its something with flowers and bling! 🙂 Be sure to get signed up before August 10th so you can have fun with me! Click here to sign up! Try it out for a month. Enjoy it for a few months. You can cancel at any time or even place a hold on getting it if you know you have a busy month or just don’t want it one month. My favorite part is the surprise and how it feels like a present each month! I also love doing a product for fun and just stamping rather than having to come up with the idea. Can’t wait for the August Kit!

April 2017 Paper Pumpkin Kit – A Sara Thing!!!

Posted on

I love the April 2017 Paper Pumpkin Kit – A Sara Thing because I love watercolor pencils and black & which with a pop of color!!!! It was super fun to put this kit together! Look at all of the goodies. You can see the complete unboxing of this kit here!

April 2017 Paper Pumpkin Kit - A Sara Thing, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I love the little mini Colored Pencils and I can always use these for future projects as well! To be honest, I actually used an Aqua Painter rather than a cup of water and the provided brush! Less mess and I tend to make lots of them! 🙂 Here are all of the cards completed!!!

A Sara Thing Card Kit, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Look at all of that beautiful color! This picture just makes me so happy and look at all of those cards from one kit! Amazing! Now let’s focus on each card set!

Diamond Watercolor, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Okay so did you also notice that the envelope have that fabulous label and each set has a different inside pattern! How fabulous?!?!? So this set I had a little problem with it….can you guess? I stamped the greetings on the white panels and didn’t realize it needs to be placed low or high so the diamond doesn’t cover it. Oops! The lower right corner one is a little covered but I think it will be okay! I simply scribbled over each diamond with the pencils and then blended the colors together with the Aqua Painter! Next, I wiped off the top with a napkin to get any excess ink off the embossed portion. The flowers are a little chunky but I loved how they accented the card so I added them on!

Acrylic Flowers, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This pattern was super fun to color with. My favorite one is the lower left corner. I just love it! The Black and White Washi Tape is the perfect accent on the bottom of the watercolor paper! Love it! The flowers add a little bling and texture too!

Watercolor Wash Background, www.LaurasStampPad.com

These were the most fun and my favorite set because it’s so easy to just swish back and forth to watercolor. Blending the blue and yellow to make green was super fun too! I love the little random dot stamp too! Another tip is that there are few greetings that fit on the banner because the “You” doesn’t fit. I just stamped the “You” onto the watercolor paper! It turned  out perfectly!

Leftover April Paper Pumpkin, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Another reason I love Paper Pumpkin is because look at all of these leftovers I have to use on other projects!! I forgot to put the little paint brush in the photo as well! I just love Paper Pumpkin!!!

Which card set is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below! Also, if you get Paper Pumpkin, what is your favorite part of it? I can’t wait to see what you say!

The kit came with all these amazing goodies to make 9 treat bags and 9 mini cards with envelopes. Bunnies are the theme which is perfect for Easter and Spring. The stamp set had lots of fun greetings so you could mix it up. Check out the reveal of the kit here! I made the 9 little bags for my nieces and nephews with candy inside! I didn’t add the little clothespin and greeting because I figured they wouldn’t care or even notice.

Easter Bunny Treat Bags, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Look how adorable these are!!! TIP: Press lightly with the stamp in the ink pad and onto the canvas bag or you will end up with a little extra gray than you anticipated! 🙂

Paper Pumpkin Desk Mess, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Then because I bought the biggest bag of candy possible and couldn’t resist wanting to eat it all, I thought I would make more treat bags using others I had on hand!

Bunny Bags, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Next, I used the small Gusseted Cellophane Bags, added some candy and stamped the bunny face! I used up the clothespins with some of the Baker’s Twine tied around it and when I ran out of those I used some Playful Palette Washi Tape. These were so simple and quick to create! I love them!

Glassine Bunny Treats, www.LaurasStampPad.com

When I ran out of the gusseted bags, I used a few of the Glassine Gift Bags I had. I just stamped right onto the bag and used some leftover bunny ear stickers!

Spring Bunny Cards, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Okay, I almost forgot the 9 cards from this kit as well! Now you know why I am blown away with everything I got out of this kit!! Aren’t these little cards adorable! I created the folded over bunny ear by stamping it on the sticker and cutting it out! Just like this…

HowToCutBunnyEars, www.LaurasStampPad.com

The March Kit is my favorite one of the year so far; love it!!! I can’t believe how much I was able to create with the products in this kit and the stamp set! Love Hearts!!!

Sending Love Hearts, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Quick and simple card ideas are always good to have in your back pocket. This design is not a new one! You might remember it from a few months ago when I created a holiday card! You can check it out here! I had some leftover pieces cut already so I thought I would make up the cards but updated to fit the upcoming holiday – Valentine’s Day! Some of the items used in this card are no longer available but you might still have them on hand from the Holiday Catalog or you can always change them up to fit what you have on hand!!!

I started with a Whisper White card base and stamped the greeting in the lower right corner in Real Red Ink. I used the Sealed with Love Stamp Set for this card! This stamp set is geared totally for Valentine’s Day but has great images and greetings for lots of occasions – anniversary, wedding, just because, and more! I took a small piece of the Candy Cane Lane Designer Washi Tape and placed it on the card front! Then I layered 3 squares – Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper (2-1/4″ Square), Real Red (2″ Square) and Whisper White (1-3/4″ Square). I stamped the heart from the same stamp set in Real Red! I layered the squares with Snail Adhesive but added it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Quick, simple and super adorable!!!

I just love this card and can’t wait to make tons of them to share my love with others on Valentine’s Day! I just love that holiday because I enjoy sharing my love and telling those that I love that I love them! I know many think that Valentine’s Day is all about teddy bears, chocolate, roses, and having a significant other but that’s not what it is to me. To me, it’s the perfect day to let others know they are loved! 🙂

December 2016 Paper Pumpkin Kit – Another Great Year!!!

Posted on

The December 2016 Paper Pumpkin arrived and I was super excited as always because I love the surprise and excitement. It is all wrapped up like a present. You can check out the unboxing of the kit here as well as see all of the contents. I was super excited about the Basic Black Marker because you always need one of those. They are perfect to journal with or use on your stamps or color in! The Rotary Stamp is super cute too and has lots of great greetings for memory keeping. I will be using that in my albums for sure! I thought the concept for the little mini album was adorable and all but when it came time to make it I just didn’t think I would use it. I could have made it and given it away but I thought I would do cards instead! So here is what I came up with…..Washi Tape Cards, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I created a total of 24 Cards using the supplies in the kit. I used Whisper White and Crushed Curry for my card bases and I used the Number of Years Stamp Set. I like how it had Birthday and Anniversary so I could use the numbers in the kit too! Also, I always need lots of those styles anyway! All of the patterned background came from the kit as well as the stickers and washi tape! The greeting pieces were cut from the leftover designer paper pieces. I just used the ones that had a white back and I cut off the design if there was a border.

Window Sheet Cards, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I used the Window Sheet designs that were in the kit for all of these cards. Window Sheets can be tricky to use since the adhesive shows through them so I just used the Washi Tape provided to secure them down! Simple and fabulous!

Birthday Age Cards, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I used lots of stickers on these since there were so many in the kit. I went through my Birthday list to see the ages of upcoming birthdays. After I had all of those done, I did a few saying Happy 21st Birthday (again). I can give those cards to anyone! 😉

Anniversary Cards, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I love that gray flower/twig pattern and thought it was super elegant for Anniversary cards. I added a little Silver Ribbon to give it some texture. And while 24 cards is A LOT…..look at all of the leftover pieces.

December Paper Pumpkin, www.LaurasStampPad.com

So most of those scraps on the far left, I’ll probably toss but that is what I used for the greetings. There are still some numbers left and 3 Window Sheets which I’ll save for my memory keeping! The entire sheet of lines to journal on are still there too which I’ll save for memory keeping as well. 24 cards and all of these goodies! I just love all of the stuff that comes in a small little Paper Pumpkin Box!

Start your year off right with Paper Pumpkin. You can sign up to get the January Kit by January 10th. Click here to get started! Don’t forget that you can save with you purchase the Pre-Paid Subscription! Check those out here! Can’t wait to open our boxes together later this month!!!

Technique Tuesday – Floral Boutique One Sheet Wonder!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!!! I hope you are having a wonderful week and if you are like me, you have no clue what day it really is….the holidays always do this! Before long it will be the weekend again and another holiday!!! Today I’m sharing a favorite – One Sheet Wonders!!!
Floral Boutique One Sheet Wonder, www.LaurasStampPad.com

So technically only 9 of these cards came from 1 sheet of 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper but I couldn’t stop at just 1 sheet so I made TONS!!!

Supplies for the One Sheet Wonder, www.LaurasStampPad.com

You will need the following:

9 Crumb Cake Card Bases – 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″

9 Night of Navy Cardstock – 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″

1 Sheet of 12″ x 12″ Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper – cut into 4″ Squares = 9 squares

Floral Boutique Washi Tape

9 Whisper White Cardstock – 1-1/2″ x 4″

For all of the greetings and stamped decorations, I used the Designer Tin of Cards Stamp Set and Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set in Night of Navy Ink and Crumb Cake Ink! I like using just 1 or 2 stamp sets and ink pads because it makes it quick and simple without pulling out all of the supplies you have and making a huge mess!!!

Sympathy Note, www.LaurasStampPad.com

For the card on the left, I added some Washi Tape to the greeting piece and layered it all together. For the card on the right, I cut an inch off the top of  4″ Square giving me a 1″ piece for the top and 3″ for the bottom!

Floral Boutique Paper, www.LaurasStampPad.com  You can swap the Designer Paper to be on the top or bottom. I added a little bit of the Washi Tape on the overlap of the Designer Paper and greeting piece!

Sending You Love, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I will say for the diagonal one, you will need a longer piece of Whisper White but that depends on your angle. Just take a strip that is 1-1/4″ and then trim down once you have cut your Designer Paper. The 4″ square was cut diagonal at any angle you wish! For the card on the right, I cut the 4″ square in half and put it on the top and bottom!

Navy and Tan, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I used the Washi Tape on both of these. You can add some more design to the greeting piece with stamps, enamel shapes, or punched pieces!

Fantastic Person, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I love the confetti swirl in the Designer Tin of Cards Stamp Set! Super fun!!!

You Can Do It, www.LaurasStampPad.com

So many fun prints but they all look amazing! You could cut up the entire package of Floral Boutique Designer Paper and make 108 cards in no time at all!!!

If you would like to see these cards in action, check out the Video Tutorial below or click here! Don’t forget to give it a thumbs up if you liked it and be sure to subscribe if you are new!!!

Have you tried a One Sheet Wonder? Do you love them too? Let me know in the comments below and check out others here, here, and here!

On the 6th Day of Stamps-Mas!!!

Posted on

On the 6th Day of Stamps-Mas, my true love gave to me…..Embellishments!!! What are your favorite ways to embellish your projects – Bling? Enamel Shapes? Sequins? Ribbon? Washi Tape?

6thDayofStampsmas, www.LaurasStamppad.com

I have fallen in love with Enamel Shapes!!! They come in lots of different colors – Brights, Subtles, Regals, Metallics, and 2016-2018 In Colors.   I love that they aren’t super bulky. I love that they come off the clear sheet packaging without popping off of the adhesive backing (at least I haven’t had a problem yet). I love that they come in all the colors!!! I will say it can be difficult to do a big project and need just 1 color. Then you have to purchase an entire color family just for that one color. So my tip for that is to always use the Enamel Shapes in multiple colors. If your card is Rich Razzleberry with Island Indigo and Crushed Curry, then use one of each color or use one color on the first card, another color on the second, and so on. That way you are spreading out the usage. Another tip is to share with another stamper friend and if that person needs red and you need blue, then you swap colors!!! 🙂

Sequins are fabulous because of the bling they offer but they are something I always kind of forget about. They come lose in a container in Brights and Metallics. You can also get Sequin Trim in Bermuda Bay, Blushing Bride, Silver, and Gold. I love using the trim in with ribbon on gift packaging like this fabulous one below! big-shot-giveaway-gift

This is the Big Shot that I wrapped up for the Giveaway!!! It looked so fabulous!!! You can also cut the trim and pull off the sequins to use individual. I find the Fine Tip Glue Pen is perfect for adhering them onto a project!

Washi Tape is super fun to use in so many different ways. You can rip it or cut it. You can wrap it to the back side of your cardstock when creating a background. You can use it like tape to hold something in place on a card or memory keeping. You can use it to make a border or background or anything. I love how Stampin’ Up has coordinating Washi Tape with a lot of the Designer Series Paper. It makes it so much fun to use together. Washi Tape comes in lots of different patterns and widths. You can check them all out here. One tip I do have to say about using Washi Tape is try to handle is as little as possible. It may not seem super sticky or problematic but I have found that when I touch the backside of it a lot, the oils/dust/whatever from my hands make the sticky not as strong and then sometimes it will curl and not stick. To see some quick and simple background techniques, check out this post and this post!

You can check out all of the Bling Embellishments in Day 5 of Stamps-Mas and stay tuned for Ribbon!! I hope you didn’t miss Day 1Day 2, Day 3, and Day 4 of Stamps-Mas!!! Be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss out on the rest of the days! You can do that on the right hand side-bar online or at the bottom of the page if you are on a phone!

Be Joyful!!!

Posted on

be-joyful-washi-tape, www.LaurasStampPad.com

This greeting is so perfect and I love using it. I have reached for it so much! It is from the Merriest Wishes Stampin’ Up! Stamp Set! It is perfect to use all year around too!!! Change up the colors and washi tape and you have the perfect card for any season!

I started with an Emerald Envy card base. Then I layered on Cherry Cobbler (4″ x 5-1/4″) and Whisper White (3-3/4″ x 5″). Using the Presents & Pinecones Designer Washi Tape, I added 3 strips in the middle. I just laid them down and ripped the ends for that torn look and it’s easier! 🙂 There are 5 different patterns/rolls in the set so you can have fun mixing and matching them when making multiples! For the greeting, I used the Layering Ovals Framelits in Whisper White and Mint Macaron. I am loving the Layering Ovals and Layering Circles. There is something about that small scallop that I just love and it really makes a greeting pop! I used the greeting from the Merriest Wishes Stamp Set and stamped it in Cherry Cobbler Ink. I added the greeting to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals for a little texture! Simple and fabulous!

If you wanted to make this card even more simple, you could leave off the Cherry Cobbler layer or create the card base with Whisper White! You can do as much or as little as you wish! Love it!!!
