Using a Brayer on an Embossing Folder!

Snowy Trees, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Day 3 of the Woodland Embossing Folder Tour!!! You can check out Day 1 here and Day 2 here! Today I’m going to show you how it looks to add ink to the other side of the Woodland Embossing Folder! Let’s get started!

For this technique, you will want to use your Brayer or just turn the ink pad upside down and ink up the side of the embossing folder that says Sizzix. This is the more solid background and not the trees. I found that the Brayer gave a more solid bold look to the folder and you won’t fall into the trees like you do when you use the ink pad. That’s just a personal preference. I’m just excited to finally use my brayer since it has been in the drawer for longer than I would like to admit and I just never knew what to do with it! Now I’m going crazy using it with this new technique. I used Pool Party ink in the samples today but you could use Basic Black for a night time look or even yellow/orange for a sunset/sunrise look or green for a forest look. There are so many possibilities. Once your folder is all inked up, you will place your cardstock inside and run it through the Big Shot. You might want to rub on the folder a little bit before opening it and pulling out your cardstock just to make sure you have good coverage! Now you can use it on your project!

For the sample above, I layered it onto Real Red cardstock and then a Pool Party card base. I used the greeting from the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set and cut the banner tips with the Banner Triple Punch! I added a little heart that I punched with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch and Red Glimmer Paper! I love it. This card could be used all winter long for any occasion!

Spring Time in the Forest, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I went for a more spring look with this card! I added little flowers from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set and coordinating Tree Builder Punch! I added these to the card with Mini Glue Dots! I thought I needed more color in this card so I added a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock at the bottom and tied some Whisper White Satin Ribbon around it. For the greeting, I used the Lovely Amazing You Stamp Set and punched it out with the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch. I layered it onto a 2″ Pool Party Circle. Of course the greeting was added to the card front with Stampin’ Dimesionals! I love the Spring look. Can we just jump from Fall to Spring???

If you want to see this technique in action, check out the Video Tutorial below or click here! Don’t forget to give it a thumbs up if you liked it!!!

Which of these cards that I shared over the past few days are your favorite? Brayer the Trees? Sponge the Trees? Brayer the Background? Let me know in the comments below!

Sponging Over an Embossed Image!

Posted on

Birdie in a Tree, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Welcome back for more on the Woodland Embossing Folder!!! Today I’m going to share samples that showcase sponging over your embossed image! You can check out yesterday’s post on adding color to your embossing folder here!

Today I’m going to show you samples using the Woodland Embossing Folder and adding color to the image with a Sponge Dauber!!! In the sample above, I used Chocolate Chip ink to lightly brush over the embossed trees. This gave a little color and texture to the trees. This isn’t going to come out perfect or bold which was hard for me. You just want to lightly brush over the image and be okay with some ink being on the background too. Stamped with love, not perfection! 🙂 I wrapped some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine and tied a bow and then layered it onto a Cherry Cobbler card base. I added a few little birdies with the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set and coordinating Tree Builder Punch. For the greeting, I used the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set. I punched it out with the Word Window Punch and layered it onto a Cherry Cobbler Washi Label Punch! Of course, I added the greeting to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals!

Haunting Trees, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Here is another sample that I created with this technique! I embossed Basic Gray cardstock and added some Basic Black Ink with a Sponge Dauber for that texture and spooky look! I cut a Spider Web Doily in half and added it to the bottom of the card. For the greeting, I used the Cheer All Year Stamp Set. I punched it out with the 2″ Circle Punch and layered it onto a Pumpkin Pie 2-3/8 Scallop Circle Punch. Simple Halloween card that you can create in no time at all!

You can check out a video tutorial on this technique here! Be sure to check back tomorrow to see more way to color with your embossing folder!!!

Technique Tuesday – Ways to Use the Woodland Folder!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!! That means I have a fabulous technique to share with you! Even better…..it will continue til Thursday!!! That’s right; I will be showing you ways to use your Woodland Embossing Folder for 3 days!! Woot Woot!!!

Woodland Embossing Folder, www.LaurasStampPad.com

I love the rustic Man look of this card; perfect for lots of the men in my life who are hunters and farmers! This woodsy card is perfect for them or even a Holiday card!! I used the Woodland Embossing Folder from the Holiday Mini Catalog. I’m sure you are wondering how I got my tree trunks brown so let’s get started!

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Woodland Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Brayer

I started with a Mossy Meadow card base and then I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″. Using the Woodland Embossing Folder, I added Chocolate Chip ink to the trees (the side that doesn’t say Sizzix). You can add the ink with a Sponge Dauber (light), a direct to folder with the ink pad (not always clean), or a Brayer! I found that the Brayer worked the best for a bold image and I didn’t fall into the spots between the trees at all like I did with the ink pad (see left corner on the sample above). Once it is all inked up, place your white cardstock in and close it. Run it through the Big Shot like you normally would and when you are done, you will get these fabulous brown trees. Now since you are doing the trees and those are the images that pop forward, you will notice that your trees are de-bossed (meaning they are pressed in rather than popping out). That is how it is suppose to come out! 🙂 Now you can add it to your card front and decorate. I added some Mossy Meadow leaves using the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set. For the greeting, I stamped Happy Birthday from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set in Mossy Meadow and punched it out with the Word Window Punch. I layered that onto a Mossy Meadow Washi Label Punched piece. I layered this with Stampin’ Dimensionals onto a piece of frayed Burlap Ribbon. First I cut the ribbon in half length ways and then just pull out some of the stitching to get that frayed look. Very masculine and rustic looking!

If you would like to see a Video Tutorial on how to create this look, check out the video below or click here! Don’t forget to give it a thumbs up if you liked it and be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss the Part 2 tutorial!

Happy Stampin’ and see you back here tomorrow!!!

Bridal Shower Beauty!!!

Posted on

I love weddings and being in love and gathering with friends and family. That is exactly why I had an amazing weekend celebrating the love of my two friends at their Bridal Shower!!!! I mentioned it on Friday and many of you requested photos so I will share (even though it was done with the retired Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper)! I loved the neutral color of the paper so I thought this was my opportunity to add in Pool Party for that look I’ve been dreaming to create!!!

Something Borrowed Bridal Shower Invites, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Here are the invitations for the Bridal Shower! I printed the inside on a Whisper White card base. I layered a piece of the Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper (3-3/4″ x 5″) onto Pool Party cardstock (4″ x 5-1/4″). I added a 4-3/4″ piece of Whisper White Cotton Ribbon across the paper, adhering the ends to the back. Then I layered this onto the card base. I created the little bow with Pool Party Cotton Ribbon and the Fork Bow Technique! Click here to see the video tutorial! I added the bow to the card with a Mini Glue Dot! The greeting was punched out with the Large Oval Punch and layered onto a punched Scallop Oval Punch! I added that to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals! I stamped a little flower from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set on the envelope to make it just as adorable!

Something Borrowed Bridal Shower Invites, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Here is a close up of the invite!!! Now on to decorations!

Bridal Shower Decorations, www.LaurasStampPad.com

To keep the theme going with the Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Pool Party colors, I stamped some greetings from the Endless Birthday Wishes Stamp Set onto Pool Party cardstock. I punched these out and layered them onto a scallop circle of the DSP. I put two of them back to back with a toothpick between and some Stampin’ Dimensionals to place in the cupcakes! I also punched lots of different sizes of circle punches in Whisper White, Soft Sky and Pool Party cardstock to lay all over the dessert table! Also, I created little food tags with a piece of 4″ x 4″ Pool Party cardstock folded in half and a little 1/2″ x 2″ piece of the DSP on the left side! It was really cute!!! Of course I had to add in a photo of the beautiful Bride and I! 🙂

My gift was a Project Life 12″ x 12″ Album which had pictures from our dress shopping adventure. I will be creating pages for the Shower and all of the other events leading up to and including the wedding. I’m use the Love Story Card Collection which is perfect for her album because she is using Black, White and a pop of Red! This collection is black, white and gray so I only need to add in the red!!! I added in the Journal Pens and these coordinating Thank You Notes as well!

It was a wonderful afternoon!!! I can’t wait to celebrate even more in October!!!

In love,

~Laura

Technique Tuesday – Explosion Card Insert

Posted on

Happy Tuesday All!!!! Tuesdays means one thing and that is a fabulous technique!!!! Today, I’m sharing with your this fabulous Pop Up Explosion Card Insert. It is super fun and has a 10 on the WOW scale. Also, it can be inserted into any card you create!!!

Cupcake Pop Out Card, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Did you think I was going to give it all away with the first picture??? Ha, you have to wait a smidge longer! 🙂 How cute and simple is this card already though!!! Love Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set and Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper!!!!

SUPPLIES NEEDED: a piece of printer paper, Bone Folder, and stamps to decorate

This is rather simple once you get the folds down! (That is a big part of it. hehe) You will need a piece of 8-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ Printer Paper. If you use Whisper White cardstock it is too bulky and thick. I started out folding the piece of printer paper in half so that I would know where the middle was. Be sure when you fold it that you are use a bone folder for a nice strong crease and it will fold and unfold much better this way. Now that you know where your center is, you can start stamping all over……like this!!!!

Pop Up Explosion Card, www.LaurasStampPad.com

See how fabulous that is!!!! You totally have to watch the video below to see it in action! It is amazing!!! You can see my center line right above the greeting “there’s something really worth celebrating today…” I wanted that line so I knew to stamp that greeting either right above or right below for the center. That is the only fold that I did in the beginning because it is much harder to stamp on folded paper than flat. So I stamped the greetings from the Remembering Your Birthday Stamp Set and the candles, confetti, and cupcake from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set!!! Once you have decorated, it is time to do the rest of the folds. Fold it in half diagonal corner to corner both ways so that it creates an “X” on your paper. So now you should have a line across the middle and an X. So now, fold it in half diagonal on the line you created to make a triangle. Fold it again on the other diagonal line, making it into a smaller triangle. Now with your triangle, you will fold in both ends that have the open sides (not folding the tip that is all folds but the other 2 that have openings so you can see your stamped images). I hope that makes sense…..that is why I created a Video Tutorial. 🙂 Fold the 2 sides into the middle, be sure to use your Bone Folder for those nice strong creases. Now unfold it all and it’s time to make it into the explosion piece. You are done making new folds. Fold it in half on your line, pop in the large triangle sides. Then you will pop in the 4 little triangles as well. Now you are all done and it is time to insert it into any card!!! I used Fast Fuse for a strong hold but I’m pretty sure that Snail would work as well! Add adhesive all along the edges, peak in to see if you added it to the top or bottom so you are inserting it into your card correctly. Then lay it in your card, adhesive side up, be sure to line it up with the edge of the card and centered. The point of the insert should be in the crease of the card. Once it is all lined up, close the card, pressing on that adhesive. Now flip it over, add adhesive to the other side and again, close the card to seal it. You are all done and can decorate the front of your card as well!

Explosion Card Insert, www.LaurasStampPad.com

For the front, I used the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack and then added another cupcake from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set! Now for what you have been waiting for……the Video Tutorial. I hope it helps you create this amazing insert because it is really fairly easy (just hard to write out). Let me know if you have any questions and feel free to share your creations. I would love to see them!!!

Don’t forget to give the video a thumbs up if you liked it!

Cupcakes = Happiness!!!

Posted on

Cupcake of life, www.LaurasStampPad.com

The greeting on this card is amazing and so true! I love love love cupcakes and they bring me lots of happiness! 🙂 This was one of the first cards that I created with the Sprinkles of Life Ronald McDonald House Stamp Set!!!

I used the NEW In-Colors – Watermelon Wonder and Tip Top Taupe for this card!!! I started with a card base of Watermelon Wonder and then cut a piece of Whisper White measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″! I placed the ribbon on the piece of white as a guide and stamped my cupcake liners from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set in Tip Top Taupe. I also stamped the greeting at the top!! Now here is a tip for adhering the Watermelon Wonder Dotted Lace Trim – add a little bit of the 2-Way Glue along the front of the cardstock. Just a little swish back and forth all along the front will do. Place the ribbon over top of that glue and press down. Now wrap the end to the back and you can use your regular Snail Adhesive! I found this to work well to hold it on as well as not bleed through the to the front and make a sticky mess! Now you can adhere this to your card base. For the icing on the cupcakes, I stamped the icing and sprinkles in Watermelon Wonder onto Watermelon Wonder cardstock. Adding those sprinkles helps add a little to the icing as well as makes a perfect guide for your glitter application!!! Punch out the icing with the coordinating Tree Builder Punch and adhere to your cupcakes with none other than Stampin’ Dimensionals (of course)!!! Once you have it all assembled, add a little Dazzling Details to those sprinkles on the cupcake. You always want to do the glitter last so you can set it aside to dry.

What is better than cupcakes, pink, and glitter? Nothing is the word you are looking for! 🙂 Do you love cupcakes as much as me? Leave me a comment down below with your favorite dessert!

Lil Birdie in a Tree!!!

Posted on

Tree Branch, www.LaurasStampPad.com

While this card is super cute and handy to punch out the image……the punched pieces are so small and kind of hard to work with! That made me nervous! I just won’t be making multiples of this cute one! 🙂

I started with a Whisper White card base. Then I took a piece of Soft Sky measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″ and ran it through the Big Shot with the Stripes Embossing Folder and punched a 2-1/2″ Circle on the right hand side! I added this to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals! I stamped the tree from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set in Chocolate Chip onto Crumb Cake cardstock and punched it out with the coordinating Tree Builder Punch! I stamped the little birdie in Pool Party ink onto Pool Party cardstock and punched him out as well with the Tree Builder Punch! For the nest, I stamped the tree leaves from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set in Cucumber Crush onto Cucumber Crush cardstock! I cut out just enough leaves to be a nest!! I added all of these pieces to the card; using Stampin’ Dimensionals for the nest and birdie! I used the border pieces since they are long and skinny! Did you know that you can use every bit of the Stampin’ Dimensionals that are on that sheet? Just cut the edges down to the size you need! For the greeting, I stamped it in Delightful Dijon onto Delightful Dijon cardstock and then cut it into pieces! I also added these to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals (skinny border pieces)! Love it!

Technique Tuesday – Banner Triple Punch!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday!!!! You know what that means! I have a fabulous technique to share with you today!!! This technique is something you have seen before but now there is a NEW simple way to get the look! Banners are super “in” right now but frustrating to get the perfect look. I always used this technique – cut straight up in the center and then from the corner to that cut straight line! This would get a “perfect” banner each time!!! Well if that never worked for you or really want quick and simple banners, the Banner Triple Punch is for you!!!
Sprinkles of Life Clouds and Trees, www.LaurasStampPad.com

The forecast this week is showing rain and cloud all week! I’m not too worried about it because it has been in the forecast for the past 3 days and we have only gotten a light sprinkle twice! It still isn’t what I like to see when looking at the weather but with every cloud there is a silver lining! Lots of indoor stamping time!!!!

This card was quick and simple and uses the NEW In-color Cucumber Crush!! I love this vibrant green color….makes me think of grass. A nice rain shower does make the grass bright and green! There is another silver lining! 🙂 I added some banners with Whisper White and some Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper! To make the banners, I used the Banner Triple Punch! This punch is super handy and makes perfect banner every time. The Designer Series Paper is 2″ and the Whisper White is 1-1/2″! I used the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set for the greeting, trees, and cloud!!! I stamped the tree trunks in Chocolate Chip with the middle one really low to add depth to the trees! The leaves were stamped on scrap paper in Cucumber Crush and punched out with the Tree Builder Punch! The cloud was stamped in Smoky Slate and punched out with the Tree Builder Punch as well! I adhered 2 of the leaves and the cloud with Stampin’ Dimensionals! Love them! When I did this card in my stamp class, many of the stampers added some Dazzling Details to their cloud and it looked so fabulous!

There are so many great ways to use the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set. You can check out more samples using this stamp set and the Banner Triple Punch here, here, and here! Also, if you would like to see the punch used in action, check out the video below!! Don’t forget to give it a thumbs up if you enjoyed it!!

Technique Tuesday – Ice Cream Cone Perfection!!!

Posted on

Happy Tuesday everyone!!! Today I have a few little techniques to share with you. Some you may have seen before and others you may not have. My favorite one is the “bow” look which was created with some of the NEW Watermelon Wonder Lace Trim and some Whisper White Baker’s Twine! How cute is that???

Ice Cream Cone Sprinkles of Life, www.LaurasStamppad.com

How beautiful and fun is this card??? I love it!!!! Guess what stamp set was used? SPRINKLES OF LIFE!!!!! I just can’t put this stamp set down. There are endless possibilities!

I started with a Tip Top Taupe card base and added some Watermelon Wonder that was embossed with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder! Then I added a Tea Lace Paper Doily and an oval of the Neutrals Color Collection Designer Series Paper Pack. I used the Ovals Framelits to cut it out! Now for the cone, I used Tip Top Taupe cardstock and ink and cut it out fussy cut style (at least it’s straight lines)! For the ice cream, I used Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette, and Whisper White. Those were cut out with the coordinating Tree Builder Punch! The little cherry was done in Watermelon Wonder and the punch! Of course the ice cream was added with Stampin’ Dimensionals (only add them on top portion and not on the overlap portion)! The ribbon was very simple. I cut a small piece of the Watermelon Wonder Lace Trim and tied the center with Whisper White Baker’s Twine and tied a bow! Simple and fabulous! This is a great way to use up those little leftover pieces!!! Love it!!!!

Ice Cream Cone Sprinkles of Life, www.LaurasStamppad.com

Of course I added some Dazzling Details to the ice cream for a little flare and sparkle! I got this idea from a fellow stamper – Chris Slogar! Thank you for the inspiration and idea! Love it!

What is your favorite part about this stamp set – the Tree, the Cupcake, or this Ice Cream Cone???? Let me know in the comments below!

A Bright Summer Day!!!

Posted on

Sprinkles of Life Tree, www.LaurasStampPad.com

Awww this card just screams Summer to me!!!! I love Summer! The bright colors, the warm (and yes HOT) weather, the sunrise and sunsets that are stunning and lots of fun!!! I used the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set which is the 2015-2016 Ronald McDonald House Stamp Set. I fell in love with this stamp set the moment I saw it and you will too if you keep following me! You can see a cupcake card that I created here!!!

This card starts with a Crushed Curry card base and I added a little piece of Designer Series Paper from the Cherry On Top Paper Stack. Then for the beautiful scene I stamped the tree trunks in Tip Top Taupe and the leaves in Cucumber Crush (New In-Colors). For the leaves, I used the reverse photopolymer technique. Place the leaf image against your clear block and ink it up, stamp off and then stamp onto your card. This gives a lighter shade solid image of your leaves. Turn the stamp over, ink it up, and stamp full strength onto the card. This makes a really full tree and it’s super fabulous! For the flowers, I used Bermuda Bay, Elegant Eggplant, Watermelon Wonder, and Crushed Curry! I love bright colors and it was so easy to stamp those little flowers right on the stem with the Photopolymer (completely clear) stamps!!! Love it!!!

Stay tuned for more fabulous cards using this Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set!!!
