Strawberry Milkshake With A Friend!!!

I totally made this card thinking coffee but it really looks like a Strawberry Milkshake, doesn’t it? A little side story about a strawberry milkshake that I just have to share. When I was a kid and my family would travel, we usually stopped at McDonald’s to eat. My Dad would get a strawberry milkshake but he called it pink milk. Well of course, us kids didn’t want milk if we could have the orange soda or whatever it was. All this time it was ice cream! 😉

I started with a Crumb Cake card base. Next, I stamped the “straw lines” all down the edge of the card in Night of Navy Ink. Then I die cut a large circle from the Layering Circles Framelits in Chocolate Chip cardstock and added texture with the Trellis Embossing Folder. This gives a nice back drop for the milkshake and it also adds texture to the card.

For the milkshake, I stamped the cup outline from the Coffee Cafe Stamp Set. I added the little hearts all around randomly in the same color as the cardstock – Blushing Bride. Using the coordinating Coffee Cups Framelits, I die cut the cup out. For the cool whip, I stamped off once in Chocolate Chip Ink and then stamped onto Whisper White and die cut it out. This gives a little texture to the cool whip swirl without looking…..like poop. The straw was stamped in Night of Navy Ink and die cut out as well. To assemble these, I added the straw to the back of the cool whip and placed a Stampin’ Dimensional over the top to secure it. Then I placed the cool whip on the top of the cup and did the same thing, securing the overlap with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I finished off by adding a few more to the other sides to balance out and create a smooth cup on the card.

For the greeting, I just took 2 strips of cardstock and stamped just the Friend from the greeting in the Coffee Cafe Stamp Set. I added banner tips and secured them to the card. I used Snail Adhesive in the middle (over the cup) and added Stampin’ Dimensionals on the end to make it level! To finish off the card, I added some Wink of Stella to the cool whip for a little shine. Also, I placed some Blushing Bride Enamel Hearts around. I just love how it turned out with the pink and blue! 🙂

    • It was for sure a surprise for me. I don’t drink coffee so I wasn’t drawn to it but lots of my friends and family do and I have had fun making them cards!!! I’m glad you enjoyed it! ~Laura
